Nice one, sir! The deductive method of a certain mr. Holmes is certainly evident in such a nice, educated and well-manered english gentleman as you!

In my review I clearly stated that any topic or theme can enhance the overall writing and storytelling qualities, IF it's done properly and with modesty. If they're implemented for the sake of storytelling, and not for the sake of pushing themselves just to force reactions. Eg. are the original Fallouts. Even if they have pretty mediocre quality of writing, the "progressive" themes can be found there, including GASP gay romance, you won't find NOBODY yelling "SJW PROPAGANDA, LIBERAL TYRANNY, SICKENING PERVERSIONS". Because they were put there without any kind of patronizing, arrogant and bigoted message, stereotyped and mary-sued to the limit that would qualify them as a primitive political and ideological propaganda. I think even if I was a typical postmodernist progressive activist, I would feel offended how the whole SJW message had been put in Siege of Dragonspear. It's insulting to everyone, almost comedic in its stereotypes. It would be an equivalent to the supposedly opposite message: where the player character would be a buffed straight white male with blond hair and blue eyes hunting for slaves and rescuing princesses that scream "PLEASE FCK ME, MY MAN, I AM YOUR WOMAN I WANT YOUR BABIES IN ME". It's wrong and just sad in its hopeless quest of sending any effective message at all.
It also clearly uses the video game medium as a placeholder to push one's agenda. No one cared about the game itself during its development. It's half baked, looks worse than the original, it has a plethora of bugs, including save and character files corruptions, destroying the multiplayer, bringing uncompatibility with mods without any reason, a bonkers difficulty setting problems than can lead to save corruptions, an uninteresting and uninspired story that's just an excuse to include another batshit badly written dialogue (think of fanfiction.net quality) that can't hold itself and assaults you with unfunny memes and ideological messages written by a declared SJW crazyman who is filled with hatred towards everything and everyone who doesn't agree with her opinions and can't defend herself other way than using slurs and invectives. The gameplay doesn't matter in the game and encounters are one of the laziest ones I've seen in my life.
Just to put this back into context. They added one LGBT minor NPC.

Sorry, my last reply seems to have been censored, probably because of all the nasty words. Toned down version below;

Is there another conclusion that can be drawn after seeing the lengths you'll all go to to decry the introduction of an LGBT minor NPC? Just what exactly is it that you find so wrong with this? Seriously, detail the exact point that you've gone "FUDGE THIS, not in my game!".

I just think your argument might have more legs if this was about anything other than one guy. Instead this comes off as a bunch of nerds qq'ing because their delicate sensibilities, be they formed from a religious background or pooey upbringing, or whatever, are being bruised by the modern world.

ah yes, trans character in a world where gender changing magic, potions and even belts exist. Makes a lot of sense.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks that this problem is blown incredibly out of proportion.
So, any opinions about the expansion that go beyond the controversy? >_>
In the world of internet and video games there are a lot of sexually frustrated men.
This, in my opinion, is why there are lot of vocal gamers who are fine with the fact Charname is a genocidal maniac but not fine with anything pro LGBT or pro woman.

It's a game. Chill.

Beyond the controversy, I heard that there are quite a few bugs (especially on multiplayer), but other than that, there's nothing. Nothing on the writing (apart from the controversial part), on the gameplay (or the dungeons), on the artwork or anything.

I don't have the time or the energy to wade through 900 metacritics review to sort out the gold from the shit, but just with the reviews on GOG, that's pretty much all I got.

Well, I was wondering if anyone around here is even playing the game and might be able to comment on the story or quests. >_> Haven't seen any reviews anywhere since it got released. LPers seem to like it ok, though.

That's what I've noticed. Most of my knowledge comes from watching gameplay footage and I'll be perfectly honest, it does look very good. I'm really playing on buying it (just waiting for a discount since I'm a bit short on cash at the moment).

Pretty much the same thing happened with Pillars of Eternity (and it was a very minor thing) and the game was still very good.

I want to play this game. If it's good, then I'm fine with my purchase. If it's bad, then I want an actual reason to hate it rather than hearsay.

I have finished SoD, and I can say that compared to the previous EE versions, it is a vastly superior product, though the writing leaves a lot to be desired in places. There are two specific issues in the game (not this current political bullshit) that made me angry (that's not an easy thing to do), but I will not say what they are because of major spoilers. Only two games have ever had this (anger) effect on me, Mass Effect 3 and Siege of Dragonspear.

Yep, I'm really curious about this. I'm especially excited about most of the old voice cast returning. I'll probably wait a little with the purchase, though. Among other things, I want to go through the Enhanced Edition first and then import that character into SoD, and that's gonna take a while.

Yeah, the Pillars thing was pretty ridiculous, as well. Here's hoping that the same thing won't happen to Torment or Tyranny. -_-

Thank you. What was it about ME 2 that made you angry?

Not ME2, ME3. Two things: Kai Leng and the ending.

Intriguing. Resisting the urge to load a previous save and will get there soon in my current play through. A similar plot element in SoD as in ME3? What could it be.... Now I'm distracted from getting charname to Balur's Gate where apparently the Flaming Fist goes around punching gays. I'm not sure what to expect anymore!

Ya that ending....

Never really gave Kai Leng a second thought. I assumed he was a character forced in to give another boss fight. I've been itching for another ME (1) play through since it became backwards on x1.... where's the time.

Right, a boss fight where a goon that does nothing but run away and punch the ground; a goon with a SWORD, gets the better (because INVULNERABILITY) of a hero who's killed 3 goddamn reapers and every other being, living or not, that's ever stood against him/her. He is a joke... a very, very, very, very, very, very... (you get the idea)...BAD joke.

It's decent so far (haven't finished it yet). Not amazing, but think of it as a pretty good fan mod... that somehow managed to get the voice actors for most of the characters.

Hearing all my favorite characters saying new things and not repeating the same things I've heard for fifteen years is just amazing.
I have two Dragonspear games (1 finished and 1 in play while bg2p2 comes out)... overall I think they did a good job and the $20 dollars was well spent.

p.s, I didn't play ME3 because after ME2 and DA3 I have stopped believing in Bioware... sad but true.
