I recently was playing Baldurs Gate 2 and was going through the storyline when I found that traveling to the gate district from the game screen map caused the game to minimize, and finally hang (essentially a crash) since I had to close it. I tried different save files but the problem persisted on each.

So I thought it might be a file corruption problem so I downloaded and the BG2 game again from GOG but this time I had the setup file check the integrity of the download. Before it finished it gave me this error message (see picture)

I'm running the following:
Windows 7 64 Bit and I have the required system specs to run the game. My video drivers are up to date as well and I just ran through Planescape torment without any problems. I've allowed administrator rights to access the BG2 files as well.

So besides re-downloading the files yet again can anyone help me with this problem if it's on GOG's end?

There is no other option. The integrity check has failed, which means the installation files are compromised. You must re-download them again, but before you do make sure you have cleared your browser cache or use the GOG downloader, and delete all previously downloaded files first.

I've been using the GOG.com downloader for every installation so far. When BG2 stopped working I deleted all the files/saves, reinstalled the GOG downloader too and then downloaded a new version of BG2 from the GOG website via the GOG downloader and then tried installtion. That is when I got the file integrity problem.

What's also weird is that I just ran a file integrity check during setup/installation (the same download) for a second time and this time no error in the files were found and it seems to have installed correctly...

You might have read errors from your harddisk or memory errors. Both can result in failing integrity checks, while passing them on a another try. However, if that's the case, you'll need to replace some hardware, otherwise you risk loosing data on your PC. Check your harddisk and run an intensive mem test. You'll find plenty on these topics in the Internet.
