kendroxide: Why does everyone seem to hate 4E? I personally thought it was better then 3 and 3.5E (though I never had a chance to play any earlier editions on table top). In 4E, fighters actually can do interesting things instead of just swing your sword every turn.
Well I can't speak for the others, but I don't really know a thing about the 4th Ed, and I don't care to find out. The thing is, I've now spent serious money on books from both the second and third editions, and right now I feel like Wizards has given up on both. I did not think they had to be scrapped, but the original authors did, so it is apparent that I have more respect for their works than they do. Or is it that they want to make more money? Either way I'm not impressed. At this point I am boycotting both the 3rd and 4th editions, and have gone back to AD&D 2nd Ed out of a combination of protest and nostalgia.
On topic, I am really hopeful for this project. So far all the info shared by Trent Oster points towards this being a dream come true. New content for my favorite games, made by the original authors? Sign me up, please!
I'm not crazy about it only being available through Beamdog's client, but I guess I'll see how that is when I get there.
