iofhua: Option 3 is a pain.

I broke down and did it. It finished the install.

I'm doing a verify and repair right now. Not sure if this is a good idea or not but I don't want a corrupt installation. I'll let you know if it verifies okay or if it breaks and gets stuck installing again.
Much appreciated, I’ve been scared to attempt to verify lol

My understanding is that when you perform these solutions, you still have not successfully downloaded/installed the game, even though it will let you launch it. I recommend that you verify your files after doing this. That should finish up anything missing.
Don't do a verify. It's stuck at 91.9% now.

0.1% worse than it was before. lol
Tried solution 3, it did let me finish the download, but when I verified game files it got stuck again on 91.9%. Considering getting a refund and buying on Steam instead.

Partakith: UPDATE FOR THOSE STUCK ON 92% and or any % TRY THIS

READ ME FIRST: Make sure to close GOG-Galaxy before, once you have deleted the files, reopen and let it do its thing. should finish! PS: You may have to ShowFileExtensions if you do not by default to see which is which.

Solution 1 / Main Info
Step 1 + Step 2 lol

1. Open GameFolder/!Temp/ or just /GameFolder/ and delete... the .hashdb and something like 2bafjdjgj3o2340gjsjsfjk (264 kb) the name will be its own not what I typed here, I deleted that too. then restarted GOG, let it download for a second, paused it on purpose and restarted it a second later.. but not the folders or .info files
You can re-open GOG-Galaxy now and it should download the rest then begin moving the files! :)

Please comment if this worked for you, to let me and others know!
EDIT: - Thanks to Connquer for the comment.

Step 2:

2. I did have to head into the MainGameFolder/Data/ and change Game.pak.download to Game.pak should be about 1.2 GB in file size. Mentioned it prior did not think it would be an issue overall. May need to do this first idk.

EDIT 2: - Thanks to @Battozai for mentioning it may be different .download files for others.

Solution 2
avatar
Battozai: Steps 1 and 2 but its was Gustav.pak.download i had to rename to Gustav.pak that worked for me. guessing files with .download should go bye bye

thx @Partakith

Battozai's Solution
Solution seems to be:

Shut down GOG completely

Go to game folder : ex.: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Baldurs Gate 3
Search for .download
Delete .download in everything that shows up

Launch GOG.

Should finish download at this point.

Look it GOG has an update for the game and download this
If it gets stuck, do the same as first time

Is working for me now

Solution 3
@Cloudlen's Combo Solution [#1 Solution]

"

I did all the methods at the same time :

first quit gog,
delete gustav.pak.state
rename gustav.pak.download to gustav.pak
delete game.pak.state
rename game.pak.download to game.pak
delete in Baldurs Gate 3 folder the .hashdb and the other temp file but not the folders or .info files.
restart gog galaxy and BOOM it worked!
I hope it'll work for you !

VoidByte: Edit 3 Did the trick.
Mention: The gustav files are in the "baldurs gate 3/!temp" folder, not the gustav files that are already in the /data folder.

Partakith: Edit 5: Solution 4 (Need steam copy as well)
avatar
SamF18: I made it work, almost like everyone else. I deleted the two files in the game folder, then deleted four files in the data folders:
- Gustav.pak.download
- Game.pak.download
- Gustav.state
- Game.state

I then grabbed Gustav.pak and Game.pak from the Steam install folder, since I was able to install the game via Steam family sharing, and copied them over to data folder. The reason I did this instead of merely removing the ".download" from the two temp files is because I wanted to make sure I had files that were not corrupted. It's worth noting that the files from Steam and the files .download were the exact same size, so your method is likely safe, and I imagine most people won't have the luxury to also have access to the Steam game files.

I'm on 91.9 too, have you found any solution?
No. Just no. First I needed to perform tricks to get it to run, now there's an update stuck? Refund requested and I'll go back to Stream. I really wanted this to work but incompetence is something I cannot stand, this should just WORK in 2023.

I removed my comment about incompetence, apparently it was a "Honey" pot. x'D

It’s like me targeting you out and being rude….because your shoe came untied after you tied it…..
The level of immaturity and lack of patience within the general populace is beyond frustrating to me, So I hope you roll as many 1’s as humanly possible. (This was always meant to be a little comical, but in order to assure the public I guess I need to comment here as well) - 2023 in a nutshell

Yes. I have requested a refund.

I wanted this DRM-free but if the DRM-free version is broken then I guess I buy it over at Steam.

I'm kind of sus that the DRM-free version was broken on purpose. >_>

A lot of developers are pro-DRM.
This worked for me thank you so much

I had the same issue and step 2 fixed it instantly for me. Thank you!

- install stuck at 92%
- closed gog
- changed "Game.pak.download" to "Game.pak"
- reopened gog
- fixed!
thanks, the first step worked

Partakith: To me the definition of incompetence is your comment. I cannot stand actual incompetence, which seem to include 90 % of this planet, it’s a new game and people can’t be perfect. It’s like me targeting you out and being rude….because your shoe came untied after you tied it…..I promise I can’t say what I want….or I would.
The level of immaturity and lack of patience within the general populace is beyond frustrating to me, So I hope you roll as many 1’s as humanly possible.
It's a new game? I mean, kind of, but there was that nearly three-year EA period to iron out a few kinks. "New game" also feels like a better excuse for Larian, who made the game, rather than GOG, a middle-man sale and delivery service. This isn't an issue with BG3, this is an issue with one particular distributor of BG3, that it sounds like may be affecting more games than BG3.

Perhaps that is all forgivable under the "no one's perfect" doctrine if GOG's own published work-around--referring the community to the back-up direct install--worked, which it almost does. Unfortunately, and mind-mindbogglingly, the back-up install version is out-dated and does not include the updates through the latest August 11 patch, so even if someone has wasted their time installing a 100+ GB game multiple times, if they were already playing rather than a new user (say, someone trying to reinstall the game because GOG's client issues extended to preventing it from launching, probably due to cloud sync issues also through its client), their saves on the latest version of the game will all be incompatible with the out-of-date work-around GOG currently has available for the back-up install.

That's not the incompetence on display here? Godspeed to the community figuring out install files to delete, file names to change, .NET applications to download, and whatever else one can do to trick GOG Galaxy into thinking an install completed properly, but that's different than the installation actually completing properly and may be liable to cause issues down the line until GOG can actually get itself working again. That's not a real solution, and it's not a substitute for GOG being a reliable marketplace and distributor.

And you're instead upset about purported end-user incompetence? Honey, we're not selling a product, we bought a product--apparently from the wrong source. Speaking at least for myself, I will not make that mistake again.

did the steps, seemed to work, but verifying files has it now stuck at 91.4% instead! lol
this is my first time buying off GOG instead of steam & its sad that this is happeneing.
