During the tutorial, you are given a shield to identify by right-clicking on it etc. But as soon as i right-click on the blue shield it crashes the game with following error! "An assertion failed in chvidImage3d.cpp at line 629 programmer says: CVidcell larger then fx"
No mods other than run the config built in to gog

Sounds like you're using an unsupported screen resolution. Run BGConfig again, and set the screen resolution to either 800x600 or 1024x768.

Yes that was the problem, i selected 1024x768 and it worked perfectly. Thanks!
Previous to that i selected the next higher -which actualy looked rubbish anyway!

Excellent. Yes, any screen resolution higher than that is icky at best, since asssets don't scale.
