Eldoth, Alora, and Shar-teel. The first is the slimiest ---hole I've ever seen, the second is so annoyingly chipper that I wanna dropkick her into the nearest ankheg nest, and the third just because.

BG2.... Nalia. A spoiled rich brat who acts like she's Robin Hood when she has no clue how demeaning her speech and behavior is; also, she couldn't thieve her way out of the local convenience store.
BG1- Jaheira. You take an average druid, add an average fighter, and get ..... a pile of junk. Don't know how you get a negative from addition but she accomplishes it. I just haven't found her effective at all. And her attitude doesn't help. Also, I don't like Edwin. He doesn't have any of Xar's lovable looniness, he's just evil and arrogant. Great mage though.

BG2- Don't have enough experience with all the characters yet. But I will defend Nalia, Aerie, and Imoen as I beat the game with them and learned to enjoy them. All I needed was Anomen for an all lightning-rod party!

Slithering: The most annoying character to me, however, is that turnip-loving gnome.
Hey, don't knock the gnome man. I for one need more gnomes in my life.

(Though I did drop him after I got Imoen.)

As for the character I don't like, well, I've brought her along for too long to feel like dropping her, but Jaheira. Because of situations like this:

* In the graveyard, after saving a man from being buried alive!
Jaheira: I hope this is not a sign of things to come. We must strive to maintain balance.
Me: ...What, you think we should have left the poor sod underground?
Montaron and Xzar and what really bothers me is after killing them off in BG - They turn up in BG2

Lou: Montaron and Xzar and what really bothers me is after killing them off in BG - They turn up in BG2
Well, they do have resurrection in Forgotten Realms ;)

It's quite a long time since I played (and only the base games), but i remember I disliked Haer'dalis, Viconia and Nalia from BG2 and Xzar and Edwin from BG1.
Personally, I hate Edwin and that Paladin of Helm who attacked him right in the middle of a battle with some bandits!

Oh and Xan from the caves, with the sword only he can equip. He is just so depressing!

I had to stop what I was doing with my PC and pull them apart.

as for Montaron and Xzar, and Jaheira. Those three were the main force behind my party. Jaheira's Healing Spells and Xzar's Necromancy have saved me quite often.
I detest Montaron and Edwin!
Odd.. some of the characters you listed aer my favs..

Xan, I love his wishywashy attitude.. what ever.....

alora, only the cutest halfling in all the lands.. hey there, hi there ! (her banter with, i forget her name, the theif the bard sends you to rescue from her father, is great)

jaheira, You are amusing, in a what the hell is wrong with you sorta way,..

monty and xzar, the best banter in the game.. Monty tell me a story, one about bears and gold !

Honestly, I cant say there is a character i dislike, to me they all have something i really like about um.

BG is the only RPG i think ive played 20+ times with so many different combos.. hmm might be time to play again
I don't really have a problem with any, except one line from Imoen.
I genuinely dislike Minsc. There's no depth to his character, and the thing about the space hamster just takes me out of the atmosphere of the game. He's also one of those goodygoody characters that bitch every time I kill someone who wasn't outright trying to murder my face.
So a few prostitutes died when I used Cloud Kill in the Undercellar, so the fuck what Minsc?
Jaheira. Most annoying ***** ever. Would that she had died and Khalid had lived...

Actually if I remember correctly Miniature Giant Space Hamsters are (or were) actually mentioned in some D&D book(s)
I really hated Jaheira's guts for the full ~2 years between BG1 and BG2's releases -- I felt she was a stuck up bitch who couldn't be pleased with anything I did, no matter what I tried. Then, in BG2, they gave her character so much more depth through the awesome questlines they designed for her, and allowed the connection between her and my character to grow by showing a more mature and reflective side of her, that she became one of my favorite characters in the series. I haven't had a problem with her since, even when replaying BG1. Characters I do continue to dislike, are:

- Ajantis (BG1): He pretty much represents everything that annoys me about Paladins -- overly proud of himself and his dedication to his god, feels that his is the only "true path", and treats anyone who doesn't follow his ways like children or outright enemies.

- Xan (BG1): This guy is just way too depressing to travel with. Feels like my party should get a penalty to morale the moment he joins... I once read that he was based on one of the developers' PnP characters, a Bladesinger I believe (hence the moonblade), but was drastically changed for the game. Pity.

- Aerie (BG2): Naive, emotionally damaged, and naive a couple more times. I understand what they were trying to go for with this character, trying to appeal to the player's protective big brother/sister side, etc, but it didn't work for me. Also, her romance story was just way too cheesy for my tastes, as was her relationship with "uncle" Quayle.

- Anomen (BG2): This guy is worse than Ajantis. I wanna punch him every time he speaks.

Those are the only ones I really dislike and tend to never include in my party. Khalid deserves special mention here, as he does annoy me with his stuttering, cowardly demeanor, but knowing what happens to him later in the story and what he means to Jaheira, I tend to have a difficult time cutting him from the team (unless I park both of them at the FAI for a chapter or two). And to balance it out, my favorites, and the people I usually travel with are:

BG1: Coran, Dynaheir, Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid, Kivan, Minsc, Safana, Viconia and Yeslick.

BG2: Cernd, Imoen, Jaheira, Jan, Keldorn, Minsc, Sarevok, Viconia and Yoshimo (purely for plot reasons, not a big fan of him).

Totally agree with this. But I really enjoy having her in a party with Korgan, because the banter between them is hilarious.

"[to Aerie] If I wanted to listen to yer yip, ye prissy elf, I’d pull ye over my knee and smack yer bottom. At least then I’d have meself something interesting to do while ye blathered on."

-I agree w/almost everything in your post except the stuff on Aerie. Though its worth it to mention that she, juss like almost every other joinable NPC in the series, is an acquired taste. There's no universally liked joinable NPC in the series, except perhaps Imoen. And thus I'm not contending your dislike for Aarie, but I personally think she's fantastic; it's good to have someone who remains that close to their own soul to balance the dark adventures that the PC finds him/herself tangled in.

-What I noticed is that Jaheira is the most experienced party member I have in BG1, her xp total even exceeding that of my PC. And given that it's also her first time on the road, from a RP standpoint, it's like she feels she has to be the 'momma' of the party, and the stress is getting to her. Hence her having that way of thinking in BG1. And then they did an awsome job of rounding her out in BG2.

-Yeah Ajantis is the most annoying paladin you'll meet in the BG series. Not trying to stick up for him, but it seems as though his overt pride & dedication are rooted in being endorsed by renowned paladin Keldorn, as he's too focused on his task and too inexperienced in the world to know how to treat any non-paladin (& those who share similar characteristics) with appropriate decency.

-LOL! Xan a bladesinger? Wow....that's very hard to imagine, to say the least. IIRC, moonblades can be wielded by non-bladesingers, so long as the blade chooses it's owner. Why that particular moonblade (which is +3 to hit, +3 to damage, and gives 50% fire resistance, thus making it the most powerful sword in BG1; a moot point, given the wielder) chose Xan, remains something of a mystery.

-I find Anomen to be alright, most of the time. One things for sure: he's one hell of a fighter/cleric. As far as his personality goes, juss get Jan Jansen in the party with him. Trust me, that'll certainly make Anomen all the more tolerable. :;oD

-I once saw it written a long time ago, that Khalid is the 'realest' joinable NPC there is, and I tend to agree with it. For all his perceived cowardice, it's good he knows when the odds are stacked against him! Ha!

The people I usually travel with are:

BG1; I used to enjoy having Kivan, Dynaheir, Coran & Yeslick for significant amounts of time travelling w/my PC, Imoen, and two more MP created party members, but now on my current playthrough, I'm going with my favourite party of PC, Imoen, the two MP created PC's, Minsc changed to pally and Jahiera changed to a Cleric/Ranger. Though I don't give Minsc a Lay on Hands ability, don't use his berserker rage, and don't give Jaheira a racial enemy. I also take away Minsc's racial enemy upon making him a pally.

BG2; PC, his MP created right-hand man, Imoen, Aarie, Jahiera & Minsc like how I got'em in BG1.(BG2 Spoiler ahead:) I like rotating Imoen's spot in Chapter 2 & 3 w/whichever NPC is most fit, from a RP perspective, for the quest at hand, or juss go w/Jan Jansen. And I take Yoshi with me in Chateau Irenicus & again when it's time to go to Spellhold.
