Please add achievements. A good selection of achievements of varying difficulty levels and objectives, including some that encourage creative play or alternate playstyles, add value to a game for players like me who want a bit more direction and more reason to replay a game.
Still none?

ShadowWulfe: Still none?
Yeah, would like to know aswell. Wanted to buy both games on GOG only, since there are also the vanilla versions included, but always hesitated since the Steam versions come with achievements. Now that both games are on sale on Steam aswell, figured now would be the time to pick them up and get a GOG copy through Connect, but they're more expensive, so now I'm kinda torn on where should I buy them.

Nope. Bummer.

craig_ethan_123: When are they coming?
Soon, maybe. Or maybe not. Who knows. Nobody knows I guess. It's a mystery. A big one.

Up.
Sucks to be viewed as less important than Steam customers by the developer, but honestly you should be thankful you can even buy the Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition games on GOG. Not everything is available to buy on GOG in the first place...

Personally, I think I'd rather have DRM-free games than achievements...

Agree 100%. The ability to warehouse the installer so that, on a whim, the distributor can't take away the game you paid for, is a killer motivation for me.

I don't really care about DRM if it doesn't intrude on the gaming experience, and if it can't be used to prevent me from installing and/or playing the game whenever I want.

Yeah that's the problem with DRM. When you have a DRM that stops you from playing games you buy. Like when games require you to authenticate on some server every time you install, or sign into some non-Steam online account. Who knows if the publisher will still have the server running in 20 years for you to start your game?

Imagine if people tolerated DRM like that on classic games like KoTOR. I still play and love that game despite its age, but it's an experience I might not be able to have these days if people had used some of the DRM that basically turns your game into rentware after the company shuts down the DRM server.

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order has me worried in that respect because of its EA Origin launcher login requirement. If EA shuts down Origin, who knows if the game will still launch in the future?

I think I've heard of some cases with Ubisoft DRM where people couldn't even install their old games anymore because the company shut down the DRM installation authorization servers.

Archievements are primarily a huge violation of privacy, and a basic violation of computer security principles.

So no thank you.

If at all, they should be optional.

Also archievements need a server. I dont run the GoG server. So theres no technical possibility for having archievements anyway.

Thankfully.

I need archievements about as urgently as somebody poking me in the eye.

DRM by very principle always interfered with the gaming experience. You always had to look up your CDs, and if the CD ever broke ...

Online is even much worse, since at times you may not have an online connection, and have no control over that whatsoever.

GoG is heaven.
As discussed six years ago, achievements would be handled through GOG Galaxy, if they worked at all. It would be unusual for Beamdog to retroactively make GOG Galaxy usage mandatory for offline play.

In theory, offline tracking of achievements could be done without GOG Galaxy, just as offline save games are done without GOG Galaxy. This would not provide smooth sharing of your achievements with other players, but could be used to maintain a personal checklist.
