UPDATE 2:

It seems that the issue is now resolved and you should be able to update without problems. Once again sorry that you had to wait!

If something still fails with Offline Installers please give them a moment more - GALAXY should be okay though.

fuckpuck is on a different sever... its a project red game
Hey all, thanks for the feedback regarding the reinstallation - right now it does seem not to help at all, I'm sorry. We're investigating and working on a fix.

If you haven't tried to update and reinstall the game, then please continue to play on the older version for now. I'll update you when the issue is resolved.

king_kunat: Hey everyone! There are indeed some technical issues that occur when updating the game to the latest version. We're working on a solution. In the meantime, doing a clear re-installation of the game should work - if it doesn't help, please bear with us. Our apologies for the inconvenience, we'll resolve it as soon as we can.

zombietongue: Sorry but this doesn't work. It just goes from "Update failed" to "install failed." CP2077 just updated fine so I know it must be something with BG3 in particular.

And the problem is, it used to be I could just download it from GOG instead, as Galaxy was optional, but now when I go to the download page, the only option is to download 33 seperate files to get it offline.
You would have had to have downloaded the separate files to get it offline before Galaxy, that's not a consequence of Galaxy that's a consequence of GOG limiting the size for Windows installers to 4 Gigabytes so they can fit on FAT32 formatted drives.
the offline installer can be downloaded for all who, like me T_T , unistalled the game, that can be used to continue to play.

Yeah, the offline installer doesn't have the latest patch though (the one that's causing these issues, so if you try to improt/integrate it into Galaxy it'll probably break so don't do that ).
i'm having no issues so far the game works and the galaxy tries to update it failing to download like always, if u cancel the update it works perfectly at last for me ^^

Interesting, Galaxy usually tries to change a few files even for a fresh install from offline installers that match the Galaxy version. Good that it doesn't in this case.
Hope this will be fix soon. Without the new patch, i can't play with my boys on diff platform.

After the E9 issue yesterday, the update was just installed successfully. But it still seem to be on the old version.

Clean installs still fail though.
For me it just finished update successfully.
Version is:
v.4.1.1.5970269

Is this the latest version?
Can anyone post what should be the correct version with the latest patch installed?

OK, confirmed, for those having trouble or "updating" to an older version the correct (latest) version for the game is
4.1.1.5970269

Just tried a fresh install again now, on the off-chance, and though it's not completed yet, it's gotten further without the error being thrown up. Will edit should it either hit the error again later, or finish successfully.

EDIT: The install did, indeed, complete without any further issues.

I decided to install from the offline installers I had downloaded, so that's in progress.

It has also just updated for me too. I believe 4.1.1.5970269 is the current version. But something is still off as the game now shows a warning when launching (not just a GoG issue it seems to effect all PC distribution platforms). So I think there will be another hot fix soon.
