a message says my game is not the right version.

B.S. I'm still not pre-ordering the newest offering!

Don't drink and post, is my suggestion.
if you are on PC [Galaxy or offline install] then the current build is v4.4.4.4425968 and should say Patch 5 hotfix 5
I'm missing the file, Patch (Release - v4.1.1.4251417 Patch5_Hotfix4 + Japanese that adds Japanese to the 31 maim files before installing the digital deluxe +Japanese files.

The files in my library have different numbers, Is this an attempt to get me to pre-order the special package? For those who pre-order are still faced with never ending updates that might not be necessary. Gollum has been on the questionable list. Will Baldur's Gate 3 be the same?
This is just one of many offline GOG patch issues over the course of the game's lifetime (though that's not an excuse). Larian is either incapable of or uninterested in providing these kinds of patches in a working state, every time. Basically, archiving the game in full is hell and takes up far more disk space than it should.
The deluxe version of this game is the exact same game. The only difference is the PHYSICAL goodies & was used to promote the release of BG3 on Xbox.

The issue is the patch release of 4.1.1.4251417 and 4.1.14251417 +Japanese

IF on GoG Galaxy you can patch from 4.1.1.4251417 to 4.1.14251417 +Japanese
and then apply Hotfix #16 or just straight up patch to Hotfix #16.

IF you are OFFLINE installer only, out of luck because there was no - 4.1.1.4251417 patch to 4.1.1.4251417 +Japanese
provided. We can't patch from 4.1.1.4251417 to 4.1.1.4425968.

You can try to install Galaxy and force the update and then un-install Galaxy.
Ouch!

I could wait until the weekend and download the latest full game. Doing this every time an upgrade file is not furnished is somewhat time consuming. Here in the U.S. my top download speed is 16 to 17 minutes for each 4gb file. Waiting till late Friday or after 12 midnight is better to avoid another update to interfere with my downloading. It's amazing that the full game is posted and not a missing file! That is something I cannot answer. I do have most versions saved before the missing file. Heck, it will only take about 9 hours for each version!

But wait, I distinctly remember patching up to the file with a +Japanese, but after the recent update, my game version was back to without the +Japanese. SO WHO THE HELL IS MESSING WITH MY INSTALLED GAMES! ! !

During the recent Winter Sale, I purchased a few games.

I also had Galaxy installed at the time.

I installed 2 games with the OFFLINE installers. They were both updated to the most recent versions. The last time these games were patched was 1-2 years ago.

For some reason, Galaxy was trying to update both games. I was constantly clicking on cancel.

At some point, it downloaded a 3 gig update when I walked away from the PC. The ONLY reason it didn't install itself is it needed the admin password to continue.

What the heck Galaxy?! I even had auto-update turned off. That's Beta software for you.
Same problem here. Running from offline installers and the previous patch to ...417 version, I now can't patch to Hotfix 5.

This would be the third time needing to re-download the entire 100+ GB.

if GOG is not willing to support this title properly maybe they should hand out refunds.
Right on, you guys or gals.

Larian is the one making patches, not GOG.

My understanding is that the offline patches for GOG are created and uploaded by GOG staff. The Galaxy/Steam Patching can be triggered by Larian, but the offline installers are handled separately.

Even if not, GOG would be responsible for recognizing the missing interim file and requesting it. My contract is with GOG, not with Larian.

i was facing the same as you in gog galaxy, hit check for updates and nothing sying no updates. decided to use verify/fix option, then launched and in the larian launcher it matches the patchnotes version on steam.

What seems to happen is that the developer submits erroneous patches and then sends a correction. This is not a problem on Galaxy, but it messes up the GOG patch numbering system for offline files. All the offline patches check that the version they are trying to patch is correct for the patch number. However, if there were ghost patches then the numbering is wrong and the patch refuses to continue.

I have also seen at least one case where the patches were coming so frequently that GOG got behind and just did not supply all the necessary patches.
