Hello!

Disclaimer: my second attempt at posting this. Apologies if the first one pops up.

What do you guys think of the new class? I really like the scales you get to add to your character. Aside from that, I'm not exactly keen about it. I don't hate it, either. Maybe it will grow on me later on.

Edit: thanks for the replies ♥

two full plays as Sorcerer, one Drow and one Wood Elf played to level 4

as a class that uses Charisma the Sorcerer gets good option to 'talk' their way out of battles and they do look nice with scales... assuming you don't go wild magic ;)

the +
they get armour when not in armour i.e, an Elf with Dragon mummy or daddy can easy start the game with 16 armour class while standing there in the undies... not that she would walk around like that but she could

the meta magic option allows you to take 'quick' spells i.e, in 1 round of cobat she starts by casting magic missile [level 2] at the enermy boss, then presses quick spell and casts another magic missle [level 2] at the same boss for a bonus action... in short she can do twice as much damage in the first round of combat as Gale can in the same combat

story wise there are a few times she can use her special dragon blood to 'see' why Shadowheart hand glows, how to get Shadowheart out of the pod & at least a few options to understand the hag... only really important to people that like to role play but still a nice touch

the -
Sorcerer doesn't really work well in armour... ok she doesn't need to but this still means you can't put any nice outfits on

Sorcerer burns through her spell slots faster than Wizard but unlike Wizard does NOT get the recharge option so resting after each and every battle becomes needed unless [like me] you are happy to use a weapon most the time, only tossing out spells for special events

p.s, anyone playing Sorcerer with a bow should really talk to the Hag once they get to the druid grove... the Spellthief is very nice ;)

DISCLAIMER: In two years when the game gets fully released, I'll have a much better amount of data to go on.

Right now I can't complete the prologue without the game crashing, so I can only see 2 out of 4 levels myself, but looking at it's abilities... It's lackluster. Most of the classes are pretty lackluster right now, but the sorc is really just a warlock that traded some of it's tankyness for utility with metamagic and more spells per day. It's really not different from a wizard outside of metamagic at level 2, and only one of the first 4 metamagic's is helpful (twin spell). Part of that is the extremely limited number of spells in the game, and part of that is that you can only go to level 4 and only have a handful of races and classes in the game. And the limitations on stats. I'd rather have rolling for stats than the crappy 27 point stat array anyday, but whatever. I'm not bothering with it again until full release.
