I've got a friend on a Mac M2 processor, considering buying this game. I'm not a Mac guy - does anyone know if BG3 is M2 compatible?

Does anyone have first hand success? If so, I'd love to hear how much effort you had to put into getting it working, as well as your machine specs.
Hi, yes it compatible.
The definitive release is still not ready (maybe on 09/06 along with the PS5 release).
You can start playing the early access (EA) and test it on your Mac.
I played all the EA with great enjoyment.

So the current Mac release isn't M2 compatible, but it's coming? This is really helpful. Thanks!

No, the current Mac release is M2 compatible, but the current Mac release is only early access, not the full game. Don't pay attention to the Steam store page. It's misleading. As far as I know, Larian is targeting the full Mac release for September, but haven't given a specific date. I don't know if you can still get the early access version for Mac here on GOG.

Yes, that's what I meant. By "current release", I meant the full version of BG3 that's currently available for PC.

Either way, thanks. I'll let my buddy know.

You can run the release version on your mac using wine. https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_3/running_the_release_version_on_macos

Ooh, brilliant! I'll pass this along. He's definitely the type to do something the hard way. Troubleshooting wine for 6 weeks so he doesn't have to wait 3 for a mac release is right up his alley. (no, I'm not being sarcastic. Dude has a lot of free time, and likes solving problems)
