the post linked assumes Larian can tell time
other places put it at 3m sydney which is more with the normal... in any event i'm more interested in seeing Larian, Gog & Steam stating they are improving their servers in order to handle the load

no news on that so far

It never occurred to me that GoG's servers might not be able to handle the load. Thanks for bringing it up.

Well - It's nothing strange to see servers bulging under load during game releases. Those servers are set up to take care of the normal general load. They also have some trouble during events like summer sales and so on. This goes for all sale platforms. Maybe they increase the number of servers temporally to take care of that extra load, but that's not really a cheap option to putt it mildly.

Just like you said, we have to wait and see and wait. I fully expect downloads will slow down at release day. I don't care too much about that, because I am patient enough to wait some hours or even a day or so. A the end the time you will put into the game will be far, far more...
As it happens, I have a gig Aug 3 afternoon and won't be back home until well into the evening (US Eastern Time), so I'm just going to leave Galaxy up and see if it's installed when I get home.

That's a great idea. If we get to pre-load the game, I can let Galaxy download it overnight.
The game probably won't be worth playing for a month or two. I am in no rush.
chapter 1 should be almost bug free, unless one played the early access it should be mostly fine (if you take it slow).

I just fear gog servers won't hold the (down)load ..

They are making a considerable number of changes that are in effect in chapter 1. I expect it to be in better shape than many of their EA patches were (that required 2 or 3 more patches to get right), but I do not expect it to be clean. I'll make an internet wager with you that there are at least 2 hotfixes/patches in the first week.

That or Galaxy since it often fails when installing big games. I'm just hoping I don't have to install it 2 or 3 times like last time during EA.
3am here in Australia? O...kay?

I spend a lot of time in character creation. It'll probably be a month before I start playing XD
