I enjoy this game. I would enjoy even more if devs would add Difficulty Settings in future. Currently I'm stuck at near end first quest. Combat is bit hard for my tastes.
then you are playing badly mate... the combat in this game is very easy

anyway next patch {which is not coming out for a while yet] will be story and the demo build we have is locked so not changing anytime soon
And when you get to the menu, you'll see Difficulty "Classic" on your latest save.

Can you be more specific with what you are having difficulty with?
Let me get this straight.
BG3 is released, not in beta, and it doesn't even have difficulty settings? What is this, the 1980's?
Basic difficulty sliders that increase or decrease damage dealt by and to player characters is a key feature to the success of original BG. Without it I think lots of players would have found the game too easy or too hard and lost interest.

BG3 is released in Early Access state, so call it Beta if you like. And Larian Studios has deliberately chosen Act 1 and "Classic" difficulty in EA, to not have to deal with balancing issues across difficulties now in the beginning.

Since they bothered to show you that your latest save are in "Difficulty Classic" tells me it will be other levels of challenges when EA is done (12 -24-ish months from now)

I see. I was looking at the store page and didn't see a big red sticker saying it's in development. I guess you have to know where to look.

If you go to the store page, it's the first thing you see after the screenshots and trailers.

I think that they need to make it a different color or something. As big and bold as it is, I too, completely missed the graphic as it really didn't register in my brain. Maybe with blinking lights? LOL... Nonetheless, I'm enjoying this game immensely and thankful that Larian got the gig. They did an awesome job with the Divinity title and the finesse shows. Sure, it's still rough around the edges, but I'm still loving it and can't wait for the completed release. Kudos to Larian for this.

While exploring ruins after first quest. You know when you recruit that elf companion. These brain things kick my butt. They really hit hard.

What's your class?

I apologize for not bringing this up earlier. What's your race, stats, and which spells and abilities do you have?
thats an optional battle so you can just skip it however I'm going to assume you want to fight it and that you are fighter or Cleric i.e, melee class

1. Has Shadow and you both got shields?

2. have you tried climbing up onto one of the ledges?

3. are you wearing anything you should not be like heavy armour on a light Cleric or a weapon you don't have the skill for?
I had trouble with a couple of the fights later on, some I was just to low to do and when I cam back at lvl 4 I was able to do them. Some like the Matriarch spider I still can not beat, the Hag just always disappears on me before I can kill her.
