waltc: I see no advantage to not using Galaxy--I use Galaxy to install and update all of my Gog games, and I use the manual install files after a games' FINAL Patch to serve as my legal copy of the game in my library. Using the manual files to upgrade game patches makes no sense at all because it takes a lot longer to get the updated patch, and sometimes Gog makes it so that the entire game has to be redownloaded to get the benefit of the latest patch!

I cannot comprehend why people are avoiding Galaxy--after the game is installed you can still run it direct from its exe without running Galaxy at all--just like you do with the manual install files. All of my Games bypass Galaxy when I run them, and I download and install all of them through Galaxy.

Owsley: Some of us that use Wine for Linux/Unix gaming can't use Galaxy. So now you can hopefully comprehend why Galaxy is avoided and stop beating that dead horse. Manual/offline installers is the reason some use GoG in the first place instead of Steam, otherwise Galaxy and Steam are basically the same thing with one having inferior support and priority with developers. Having a manual installer IS essentially what makes something DRM-free, otherwise a user is tied to the app in the same exact way and are just in abstraction territory.
Why can't you use Galaxy? And beyond that, you have Lutris and Heroic launcher. I'm running Galaxy through Proton on my Steam Deck (Arch Linux) and it works just fine. Proton is just a custom WINE build. But otherwise, the Galaxy client isn't needed to run your GOG games at all, even the ones you use it to install.
Still no change.

And I wont use Galaxy. Not needing a software like that is exactly why I'm on GoG, not Steam.

I haven't tried to run Galaxy on my Linux machine as I just use that for work, so good to hear there are some options. However, I am running BG3 on macOS and the Galaxy app just doesn't work with the Wine build and porting tools to even launch and install, thus need the manual install exe's. This is just a temporary fix till the delayed native version comes out. That being said, while people that need a manual install are certainly a minority, it is pretty ridiculous that GoG has dropped the ball on one of their potentially largest revenue makers this year.
Upload, whoever has it, installer 072 to a file hosting service. And link here) There is an option from GOG-Galaxy, but a folder, but I would like an installer ))

melandis1973: So the original hotfix 4 patch that was rolled back was version 4.1.1.3645567

The new hotfix 4 patch is version 4.1.1.3648072 and GOG put up the offline installer for this on friday:

patch_baldurs_gate_3_Release_-_v4.1.1.3636828_-_Patch_Patch0_Hotfix3_(66686)_to_Live_-_v4.1.1.3648072_-_Patch_ Patch0_Hotfix4_Launcher_fix_(66847).exe

esobiomentale: Not for me either. I only see version 4.1.1.3645567 available as offline installer.
I don't know what's up on Galaxy.
Is it possible to update from the offline installer to the Galaxy version without having to download it again

I think so. I ended up using the Heroic installer (as suggested by paladin181) to update my manual Wine installation and it worked pretty seamlessly. I imagine Galaxy should do the same if you point it to the correct installaiton /dir.

Geromino: Nope, not for me.

I still only get Release - v4.1.1.3645567 - Patch Patch0_Hotfix4 Loca fix

There is no mention of a 4.1.1.3648072 anywhere in my download for BG3.
avatar
WCFan: That's exactly my situation. The current offline install files (attached screenshot) include a full install to the broken 3645567 or patches leading to that. There's no way to do a fresh install to 3648072 or even install a previous patch. Hopefully GOG adds a "3645567 to 3648072 patch" file today as I really want to play!
A workaround is to delete the broken Hotfix 4 PAK file. It should be in the Data folder. You’ll have to load from an old savefile, check the version number when loading the save.

You don't hear it when people explain it to you at length. I'm not going to play that with you.

Yeah - I fully agree with you. Users that came to GOG to EXPLICITELY avoid being forced to use an installer (may it be Steam or Galaxy) should not have to explain why they do not want to use it!!!

People here - Please respect the choices the users made, and do not force them to explain why.
People do not want to use a client. That's it! Period.
That's the reason they buy their games on GOG.
They pay sometimes extra for that privilege, because games on other platforms with forced clients may be cheaper!
So - Please respect that choice. Don't be a jerk...

If anyone still has problems getting the correct *072 Hotfix 4, close the page and reopen it. That at least did it for me. Just reloading it didnt do anything.

Thanks for letting us know. Unfortunately, the patch wont install. I think its expecting the version number ending in 828, but of course the last broken patch "updated" the game to version number ending in 567.
edit: correction

Version *072 is the current version (new Hotfix 4)

Version *567 is the incorrect version (bad Hotfix 4)

Version *828 is the previous Hotfix 3 that should update to *072 now.
