Hey guys, does this version include the remake of Avernum 1 (Escape from the pit?) I'm thinking about getting the series on GoG (already have 4-6 on steam redeemed and have a copy of Escape from the pit not redeemed) so wondering if this include the remake version of Avernum 1.

If not then how much would I miss out on if I didn't play 2-3 and just played the remake and 4-6 on steam?
This question / problem has been solved by Negatusimage
First the easy answer- GOG's pack doesn't include Escape From The Pit.

The second question isn't as easy. The designer, Jeff Vogel, makes each game to be, for the most part, self contained. He builds on previous games mechanically, and there will be some references to past events & people. If you've played the Geneforge games, you'll understand the story structure & progression.

I wouldn't want to skip 2 & 3, but you could and not be "lost".

Ok, thanks :) I haven't gotten to the geneforge saga yet (might start today) so I wasn't sure. Only played Avadon which as we all know isn't part of a series of games.

Well, considering it seems to take two years to develop a remake (altought he's concurently working on Avadon sequel as well both to be released this year), you should have quite lot of time to finish original saga as at this rate he'll finish remaking the Avernum series around 2021. Then he can start remaking the series once more ;-p
Ah, that's good news, because I pretty much have the whole of the RPG history on my backlog, so it'll probably take me exactly so much time to at least do a playthrough of all those games :P

Jeff Vogel stated that he is only remaking Avernum 1-3. He feels that 4-6 are fine with current computer setups.

Well, by 2015, around time the Avernum 3: Ruined World should come out, he might reconsider. Who knows? We'll see. :-)

Edit: One factor that could sway his decision is how well the remakes sell on iOS.

Well, if it's a remake it's not new, so I could just play them if I haven't played the originals till then :P
