Any particular tips?

I've just started my exploration of the Harkin's Landing place.

I am in love with the lack of encumbrance (Geneforge 5 did that too right?) in the "I am carrying too much loot" sense.

So far, I still miss reputation and overland travel, and am frustrated with the lack of a light spell now that secret doors are back.

Other than that it has been fairly entertaining thus far.

Edit: Avernum forums are a lot more quiet than they should be.

Maybe we're just too busy playing our games. ;) I think I may finally wrap up Avernum 4 tonight. Despite the landmass being condensed (comically so in places) and the thankfully very convenient pillar teleportation it's still a pretty damn long game.

I'm not sure whether to hop into Avernum 5 right away. I was thinking of maybe going back to Geneforge 2 just to change things up a little, or play a completely different game(-type) altogether; Lara's been itching to explore some tombs with me for some time now.

Yeah, the crunching of everything really frustrated me.

I liked how Dharmon was practically under Blosk. The giant lands were barely larger than the starter area. The list goes on. Honey I shrunk the Avernum!

Avernum 5 seems to improve a lot of the issues with 4.

Yeah, I think Jeff simply didn't have enough time to add all the features he wanted to Avernum 4, being that it was a new engine for the avernum world.

You've gotten me all excited to replay A5 now btw, it was the first SW game I ever played, back in 2007, and I remember really enjoying it.
The cool thing about avernum 5 is that you DONT have to be the good guys. You can join the bad guys and what not. Avernum 6 goes back to needing food to survive (exile). The sad part about all of this is that I have yet to complete any of Avernum 4-6. Avernum EFTP spoils me with the same graphics and a favored leveling system :)
