Honestly I thought that cleaning the crater was nearly impossible unless you have a whole party armed to the teeth with you but I just did it! Alone with Dzhulbars the dog. And I didn't even use one grenade! We used drugs though.

It was quite messy but all these poor shadows asked for help anyway; now they are no longer suffering.

Just out of interest how frkking long did that take you? I went there with a full party (armed with pretty much end-game gear), and after shooting a bunch of them I got bored and went somewhere else...

Is there anything worthwhile to loot there? I think I noticed something in some far corner but couldn't be bothered finding out...

I'm not sure how long it took, an hour maybe? An hour and a half? In both game time and real life time since the timescale is fixed to 1 when you are inside a location, whatever the location.

And yes, there is very interesting loot, a gun that exists in only one copy in the whole game, but you have to get rid of all the shadows in order to get to it. :)

There is also the experience points. I got 2433 points for killing all the shadows in one time. Since you started and quit you already got the number of points corresponding to the number of shadows you already killed but it could be interesting for you to get the rest of them.

Well by that stage of the game I couldn't really care about experience any more, since last time I was there I'd completed most quests by then.

BUT I'm definitely interested in that weapon now. That and after playing through the entire game three (or four?) (completing as much stuff as possible each time), I STILL haven't managed to find the gun that fires the really high-calibre bullets that I seem to keep collecting! I doubt it'd be better than some of the other awesome guns I already have (or at least, not better enough to make a huge difference), but I still want to see it... One of those games was a maxed out luck run (by the end anyway), so I would have expected to see it in that run...

You mean these ammo ?

The weapon that uses them, the PTRD, is very rare in the game; I got one of them before ending the game, that I found on slavers. You cannot buy it, although now that I'm thinking about it, I may have seen one in a trader's inventory once.

if people read this: the best way to get interesting weapons is attacking, and surviving, slavers. ;)

I'd be surprised if it's never for sale, since I've seen the Krasno guy sell stuff I thought was near-unique a few times. That and random caravan traders, while 90% of the time they just have crap, once in a blue moon you can get lucky.

Yeah in general I get most of my weapons from fights, but occasionally I find something really good from Krasno that I keep for the rest of the game (usually quality sniper rifles and the like).
