You should write to our Support department with that exact error message so that we can get to the bottom of this :)

Thanks for your answer. Will report the issue to support department ;-)
Otherwise if they aren't able to help you fix this, we are completely free to take a look at your issue :P
I had the exact same error in the spanish version of the game. I solved it by installing the english version and copying the missing files into the spanish instalation. These are: ATA0260D.APS, ATA0260F.APS and ATA0260F.SYC
I haven't finished the game yet, so there may be some other files missing.
Was you version the spanish one as well? If that is the case could someone of the stuff inform of this issue and fix it in the spanish instalable?
I have done a list of the vital files (i.e. they cause a crashing error in the game) which are missing in the Spanish language GOG version installation of the game. They are the following:

ATA0235B.APC
ATA0260D.APC
ATA0260F.APC
ATA0581B.APC
ATA0584B.APC
ATA0587B.APC
ATA0588D.APC
ATA0590B.APC

All of them are the full "meow phrases" of the Silken cat in both meetings with the ratcatcher. It's funny that these specific dialogue lines are all omitted. Maybe this GOG version installation was done by someone who doesn't like cats? Just kidding. Their corresponding .SYC files are also missing but these define the lip syncing pattern (OMNI SYNC system) of the characters speaking so the cat doesn't really need them (I wonder why they are there still).

There are some more missing files compared to the English language installation, but it seems the game doesn't need them, or so I checked. And in that case, that could pose a conflict with the different language dubs which doesn't happen with the cat lines since they are the same in all languages after all (another option would be getting them from the original Spanish language version of the game, though).

Thank you very much! This works very well for me.
