I just got the picture book to the troll outside the goblin kingdom, and I tried to levitate to the other side, but cannot figure out how to go up or down. I jumped halfway up a column (a trick I've found myself using oddly often) and then levitated across. I'm in this icy cave containing some rats and an EXTREMELY good sword. I climbed some stairs, got a message about shooting down a stalagtite, and did so. I cannot figure out how to reach this new platform I made. Is there another levitation scroll I missed? I'm only about 4 or 5 hours in.

I'm intentionally not using any walkthroughs or guides in order to not spoil myself, can anyone help me with this area? I posted this elsewhere but got no repsonses. I took a picture of the area but it's too big to be allowed. Also I googled "arx fatalis icy cave" but all I got was stuff about some dragon.

You need to cast levitate. The area you are in is supposed for the later game. But I usually go there to get the backpack very early because I hate the small inventory.

But one queston: If you are not using a walkthrough how did you find out what birthday present the troll wanted?

I found the birthday present by obsessively clicking on characters every time I get stuck, particularly the snake lady.
