For geeky people like myself wanting to verify the file integrity externally, here are the hashes for the new installer (1.0.0.6):

nevok01: it allows them to make full profit on a game that still, after the new patch, is unplayable AND allow the community to fix it for them and no cost.
I'd have to disagree. This patch has fixed my number one issue, the black screen when loading certain saves. That alone makes it worthwhile in my eyes, but on top of that it has fixed EAX, improved performance on some systems, and added an alternate rendering setting to experiment with. I can cope with the occasional crashes and rare super-speed during an enemy's death animation (GOG's compatibility tweaking in the new installer may have reduced those too).
Most developers wouldn't bother patching a game this old, and even fewer release the source so fans can improve it themselves. Arkane has done both. :)
Paczyk: The Arx Fatalis installer has just been updated to 1.21 :)
The store page hasn't been updated to say it's Windows 7 compatible?
I also second the suggestion of making a big deal about this in a news post because this is certainly a patch that previous players will want to return for.
