so has anyone actually found a way to fix this problem?
I'm running an AMD duel core, vista 32. tried using the optimizer, but it didn't help. then again I'm not even sure it did anything, when i tried running it, nothing seemed to happen. don't know if its supposed to be like that. also tried switching the affinity to just use the one core and compatibility mode. again, it didn't help with the super speeds I'm running at.
and as others have said, its just my character moving like that. everything else moves at regular speed.
Im running a single core Athlon XP 3200+, 2 Gb RAM, ATI Radeon X1950XT, and my character moves like lightning.... game is unplayable. I have already forced Vsync but not solved the problem.
Any fix for this?
EDITED:
Well, managed to solve the speed problem by activating EAX, but to be able to do that I had to install the unified EAX driver present in the retail Arx Fatalis CD.
My rig has Windows XP professional SP3.
GOG should include this unified EAX drivers with their release of the game.
Hope this helps.

What is and where do I find a Unified EAX Driver?

Right here. :)
If you have Vista or newer this might not work, however (I couldn't get it working correctly on Windows 7, although I don't have this speed issue).

Hi there,
I've found another solution I think.
I have v 1.9 running under XP 32bit with a AMD Dual core...
I recognized that this "teleport bug" happens when focusing an interactive object in game(e.g. a person or something you can collect). My solution is to turn off auto description in the optionsmenu...hope it helps someone :>
I had this problem too. solved it by reinstalling video drivers
radeon 4770 catalist 9.12
This is really wierd. The bug appears after I turn on DS3D GX (EAX emulation) in my xonar audio center
I have the same problem on my netbook
it's your run of the mill atom cpu with an ION graphics processor.
I'll try some of the suggestions in this thread, an official statement would be nice though.

Same here.. Atom cpu, Intel 945 Express graphics -- nothing special.

It most often happens after closing the inventory, but not always, but sometimes happens at other times.

Often I just go bumping into the wall in front of me, but once I was in a long corridor and scooted the equivalent of 3 meters forwards in a nanosecond, then walk as normal.

I have tried all suggestions (where possible) but they make no difference.
Mmmmm tasty necro.

have this same issue. Keep telleporting around in my cell. If anyone has figured out a surefire trick yet let me know.

Your CPU is overclocked, based on the specs you've listed, which is the likely source of the problem. You could try using an unofficial patch (Arx Libertatis or Arx Fatalis Fixed).

If that doesn't work you may need to undo your overclock.

Well, piss on that. I"ll try one of the fan patches then. Thank you!
I have a quad core 3.6 ghz processor.

While the game is minimized do this:

All I did was go into task manager, go to the processes tab, click See processes for all users, right click ARX's process, click Affinity, then set it to only use Core 0.

Basically followed the directions listed earlier in this thread. Just posting to say it works and thank you to everyone who posted this advise!
I'll confirm that with my setup, setting affinity to a single core worked as well. No extra patches required!

Affinity to a single core worked for me as well. I had to do a reboot before it work though.
