It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I just downloaded and installed Arx Fatalis and was going to download Libertatis, but Chrome blocks the download claiming it's a virus. Anyone know whats going on? Is AL busted somehow or is it just Chrome acting up?

Edit: Nevermind. I got an answer from lekgolo137

"It's a common thing with this last version, most browsers use Google's machine learning algorithms to try to identify possible dangers. You shouldn't trust an stranger on the internet, but I assure you in this case it's a false positive, I installed it and played the whole game with it without any issues, also I've been following the developers irc chat and one of them even posted about this issue on the steam forums, they've tried reaching Google and Microsoft about it, but without much success.

If you get a warning when trying to download the mod installer on Chrome, you can go to Settings -> Privacy and security -> Security -> Safe browsing, and change that setting to "No protection" temporarily so that you can download the file."

in another forum post, and I found some info in in the thread marked up top.

Everyone using Libertatus is/should be getting the threat warning, and I'm getting it from multiple apps

Program:Win32/Uwamson.A!ml
Affected items:
file: A:\GAMES\Arx Fatalis Extended\arx-portable.exe

I'm not entirely satisfied with third, fourth or fifth hand forum posts of 'false positive' about Arx Libertatus.
But see this: https://bugs.arx-libertatis.org/arx/issues/1477

A general search for Uwamson.A!ml turns up page after page saying its a trojan. I followed some online directions on how to remove it, searched registry for it and nothing came up. It may be what Libertatus bug report says it does, but it still is a nagging splinter to me...

No they shouldn't. A number of anti-virus vendors have already fixed their detection, including Microsoft, Bitdefender and Avast. If you are getting warnings from those then maybe updating your definitions will help. Others are simply producing faulty software because they have no incentive to not falsely flag harmless programs. Google (meaning all browsers since they use Google's list) also currently does not block the download - whether they have managed to restrain their automation from messing things up again we will see.

Funny you say that, I just reinstalled Win10 last weekend on this system and updated fully, and Win32/Uwamson.A!ml is still flagged by Defender and others..., so seems to me at least Microsoft hasn't "fixed their detection".

Also, please explain why page after page in online search of Uwamson.A!ml turns up results that it does? So many paranoid people??? Don't blame them to be honest... I just want to play the game, Libertatus is required, yet Win32/Uwamson.A!ml is part of their .exe

Avoiding this mod, VirusTotal just flagged it 27/57...too much for me.

I've played using the mod multiple times, over multiple years, and using multiple systems. I can guarantee you that its a false positive.

If I had to guess, the mod uses some kind of hook to modify the original game's stuff. Other mods that do similar stuff like the Blue Sun Mod for 7.62 (which comes pre-packaged with the game on steam) also show false positives.
It's definitely a false positive.

No. It's based on the released source code, so it does not need to use cumbersome patching during runtime. It's an engine replacement (source port – if you want to use that vague term) not a mod.
How comes that AV software thinks AL 1.21 contains a virus, but AL 1.2 doesn't? Something must have changed between AL 1.2 and AL 1.21.
