Well I decided to try a little experiment with this game. I took the entire folder (and Subs) and copied them to a 8 GB USB Thumb Drive. Pulled the drive and stuck it in another computer. While the start up was a bit slow - playing was smooth and without incident. Now as long as I copy over my saves each day I can take the game and play it on any PC with a USB connection. Installed System: Windows Vista Home Premium 64 / AMD 64 / ATI Video. Tested Systems: Windows XP Professional / Intel / NVIDIA Video - Laptop - Windows XP Professional / Intel / ATI Video.

Saves are stored under the program folder root, so if you run off the thumbdrive your saves will 'follow' you.

That's nice, too bad I don't have a second (Windows) computer I use, but this should be good for anyone who wants to bring some entertainment along.

Pretty much any game that you've installed into program files folder that save into game directory could be affected. Same will happen if you disable UAC.

You can get pretty much all the games to work in this way, even ones that save to other places and require the registry, by using something like Jauntepe.
It tricks them into thinking they're writing to some other location or the registry, when in fact they are writing to a local folder or file. Very useful for making things portable.

Interesting that there is software that will get around the registry for the newer titles.
I would think that playing on a different PC from a USB drive (thumb or external HDD) could be done with any GOG title that was originally written in the DOS / Win95 days.
