BadOldPlayer: the manual text gave me the impression that perhaps the designers had given a little more thought to gender equity than many games do.
The game actually acknowledges the player's gender, unlike many games. As a female, players will encounter a good deal of sexism from various sources, and will often find different routes through certain situations. So "equity" is not exactly the word I would use, but I did like that gender actually matters in the game. I also like that players can choose to confront this sexism rather... directly, should they wish.
It is unfortunate that there aren't playable females for all the races, though. But at least the designers tried to explain this in the context of the world they created.
