I've got a 1 intelligence ogre (using an option from the unofficial patch 2.0.2 which unlocks ogres as a playable race) who can't talk to Percival Toone in Shrouded Hills because of either a racial hatred or my low intelligence. As such, he can't tell me about Dernholm, so I can't ask around in SH for the location.

I've skirted the issue for quite a while and have finally come around to Stillwater, where the blind dodge master wants me to go kill Garrick Stout in Dernholm for training. Unfortunately, he doesn't put Dernholm on my map (or even mention the name of the city), as I had hoped he would.

So, other than getting the location from Percival Toone (or a villager in SH after hearing Toone mention it), is there any other way to get Dernholm on my map? Walking to the location doesn't seem to help (unless I have to stop on the exact coordinates?), and I haven't found anyone else who can tell me its location, nor a ship captain who can take me there.

I'm open to cheating methods like a save editor or even hex editing my save file if necessary, but if there's a legitimate way to do it, that would be ideal.

Edit: Solved it by using an intelligence potion and talking to Percival and then a villager for the location. Duh! Still wouldn't have worked if I had chosen the Ogre background that's locked at 1 Int, so I'm still curious if there's another way.

Those exact coordinates are 1237W, 1650S.

If you still have an earlier save, you can try that and see whether it works.

Ah, it did indeed! It seems you have to step onto the actual circle for the city on the map to find it, unlike many locations where you just have to come within a reasonable distance of them. In light of that, my criss-crossing of the area was not nearly tight enough, particularly when it's right on the coast.

Yeah, there are a few places like that, including an Easter egg that nets you one of the most unusual thrown weapons in the game, and the penultimate stop (a hidden mountain pass) on the Arcanum Gods Quest world tour. As well as a few other places that are intended to be mapped, like Dernholm, but that can be brute forced if need be. (The Roseborough photographer's hidden bridge quest comes to mind.)

Anyway: coordinates lists, full maps and other spoilers are freely available online, should you decide you want to make use of them.
