I cant get the game work with the high res and unofficial patch.

I can get it work with the high res but the downside it is buggier without the unofficial patch?

I can get it work with the unofficial patch but the downside is that the hud elements dont go well with my screen.

You need the UAP. You don't need the hi-res patch.

However, try running the game in admin mode with the following as the command line:

"C:\GOG Games\Arcanum\Arcanum.exe" -no3d -doublebuffer -scrollfps:70

(Note that the quotes around the first part are important.)

If the game is not on your C: drive or is in a non-default directory, you may have to replace that part with the drive letter and/or directory that your game is being run from.

thanks for the reply.
i got it to work with the UAP and high res but still suffers from lag in menus/inventory while it highlights items.
and it sometimes wont load a game.

As I said, you don't need hi-res (at least, not as much as the bugfix patch). Try disabling it and running the game without it, and see what happens.

Install Arcanum High Resolution Patch Version 1.5 too
and try setting the renderer to software and using this wrapper: http://bitpatch.com/downloads/ie-ddrawfix.zip
