Here is the situation, I have bought Anno 1404 and Venice on steam a while ago. I saw the DRM thing with only 3 devices limit.

Is there a possibility to add Anno 1404 to my GoG library after installing it from Steam and yet benefit from a DRM free copy from my GoG account?

BUT if you read the infos, it is only sometimes and for certain games at certain times.

But WHY did you use Steam in the first place? Yes I do have Steam as well, but I normally go first GOG, wait and then maybe Steam.
You know that GOG is doing sales as well? Like RIGHT now? And on a regular basis? ;)

I used Steam for years now, never thought or sought any alternatives. Long story short, I enjoyed re-playing my old city builder (Caesar 3, Pharaoh, Anno 1701 and Anno 1404). I heard of the release of Anno 1800 and the flop of Anno 2070 and 2205. So I started to take notice of the horrible DRM and imposed Ubi rules as well as the already known EULA from EA.

That is how I came to discover GoG Galaxy. Now, I am sitting with a lot of games bought from Steam some of them with a strong DRM behind (Anno 1404). That is why I asked for such a transfer to see if I can smoothly move from Steam to GoG.

GOG (and devs) are sometimes doing connect-features, mostly during the big-sales (not always). So best is really either visit GOG on a regular basis or subscribe to the newsletter (if you want).

Or just buy those games when they are on sale again. I got 1404 Gold for 4,49....on a sale and I bought it (again) even as I still have 1? 2? CD copies laying around somewhere.

And I am still laughing about: Were you sign of your soul and of you ancestors and kids as well? Do you mean this? :D

Aaand coming back to your question. Right now, no.
And do not mix up GOG and Galaxy!!!! Two different things. Yes you CAN use Galaxy, but you don't have to (unless MP requires it). All other games can be downloaded and played without Galaxy. SO keep this in mind (This is referred to as classic installer BTW)

Hence my reply with the souls ;) I decided that they will not get any further money from me as I do not support this appraoch in any way. The list is empty as in the moment there is no offer for connect. During the summer sale (IIRC) there were 20 games included. It is always only a temporary thing not permanent. Don't forget, GOG and steam are competitors.

Advantage GOG:
1.) You buy, it is yours
2.) No front-end needed (steam overlay)
3.) once downloaded nobody can take it from you away anymore (unlike steam, if they remove it from your library.....poof....gone)
4.) you support DRM-free (see your own remarks about the EULAs ;) )
5.) Far better support through peers or official support (personal experience)
6.) far better community in general
7.) a shitload of good old games :D If you do like oldies, what seems to be the case and all (win10 sometimes a wee bit of problem) running on modern machines.
8.) money back guaranty, nearly forgotten!!!! unlike steam which ONLY recent implemented something like that GOG has had this for a long time!!!!!!, BUT unlike steam only in case of technical problems.
9.) OPTIONAL GUI overlay, called Galaxy (so like the Steam overlay)

Not so much concerning you, but geolock or similar is also not a problem on GOG, unlike steam.

Did I mentioned, you support DRM-free ?? ;)

10.) also in your household you can install the same game on all your computers unlike steam. (and play at the same time, MP, check prior, but single never a problem)
11.) GOG does not require ANY form of forced-online (MP, ok you know what I mean ;) )

contra: (I am honest)
1.) updates not always coming (whom to blame, I do not know)
2.) sometimes 'castrated' versions (check reviews/sub-threads prior)
3.) not all AAA-titles available (directly)
4.) forum software not always working :D
