Anno 1503 doesn't really work on Windows10 for me with Catalyst 15.7.1.
Either it gets stuck on the loading screen or once it loads I only have 4fps ingame, which is of course unplayable.

Any AMD users on Windows10 here that can comment?

Not an AMD user, but I'm on WIndows 10 as well and getting extremely low FPS in-game.

no amd, win 8.1 and also extrem low fps
The problem lies in the dropped support for 16bit applications that was introduced with Windows 8. There is however a registry fix that will make it atleast playable agin.

This is the fix. Sadly I only have it in german and right now I don't have the time to translate it:

Registrierungseditor ausführen und dort unter HKEY_CURRENT_USER den Schlüssel Software – Microsoft – Windows NT – CurrentVersion – AppCompatFlags – Layers suchen. Der sollte bereits einen Eintrag von Anno 1503 enthalten. Sonst einfach eine neue Zeichenfolge erstellen:

Name:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ANNO 1503\1503Startup.exe
Typ:
REG_SZ

Diesen Eintrag anklicken und unter WERT folgendes eintragen, ohne die Anführungszeichen:
„DWM8And16BitMitigation 8And16BitAggregateBlts“

This seems to fix the low fps, but the game is still unplayable because it minimizes to the taskbar all the time.

I only tried it on Windows 8 and there it works. Gonna try it on Windows 10 with my disc version later today. :)

Here is my translation:

Open the registry-editor (using regedit.exe) and under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" find "Software – Microsoft – Windows NT – CurrentVersion – AppCompatFlags – Layers". There should already be an entry for ANNO 1503 A.D. If not, make a new entry, containing following information:

Name:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ANNO 1503\1503Startup.exe
Type:
REG_SZ

Select this entry and change it (without quotationmarks) to :
„DWM8And16BitMitigation 8And16BitAggregateBlts“

This was just quickly translated. I hope there are not too many errors in it.

Are you using a Geforce or Radeon?

Yeah that's what happens when you tap out and back in. Aslong as you stay in the game you should be fine though. I just reinstalled my Anno 1503 Königs Edition (basicly the main game + the addon) Disc version and with the fix posted above it runs completly fine for me. The game stayed in fullscreen and didn't minimize on itself. Looks like I'm no real help here. :/

/EDIT:
I may have a fix. Try to start the game in windowed mode. I am not sure if this will help, but it's worth a shot. Add /w to the command line in your desktop link for 1503 A.D.

I don't choose to minimize it. It minimizes itself right after loading or if I click on anything ingame. Menus are working fine.

If I add /w I get a tiny screen in the upper left corner of the desktop, which I can't move. But at least it's working, apart from border scrolling with the mouse. And I have to add 16bpp color depth in the windows compatibilty settings.

If I could move this window, it would be perfect:

Is there a way to tell Windows where to put the window on the Desktop?

Currently searching. I found a few ways here:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7977322/set-the-window-position-of-an-application-via-command-line
I havn't tried them out though.

Neither. I am on an old Lenovo Thinkpad R61i... it has a really bad graphics card and almost no capability of 3D rendering.... unreal works though :) . Maybe you can set the compatibility mode to Win XP and 256 colours... or something very low and see what happens.
