Hey.

So after a few seconds of starting up the game, the colors change into the " the f**k you playing an old game for on this supa machine" if you get my meaing.

I've tried diffrent compatibility options with no luck so far.

Anyone got some idea/tip for me? :)

Not a permanent one, but try hitting the pause button twice.

Good tip, but like you said, it's not a permanent fix : /

OK, let's create a batch file launcher so as to kill the explorer.exe application prior to starting the game. (don't be afraid, it's very very easy and it should take care of the problem permanently!) ;-)

I need you to tell me the name of the .exe file of Anno 1602. Look for it by going into the directory you have the game installed. If you don't know where it is, right click on the shortcut -> open file location. Just tell me what's the name of the executable and i'll make the file for you. If in doubt of what's the name in case there are different kinds of .exe files in there, just take a screenshot of the folder so i can what files are in there.

edit: typo

Allright, read carefully:

Inside the Anno 1602 directory (the place you have it installed), create a .txt file (right click -> New -> Text Document) and copy/ paste the following code inside it:

taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe
1602.exe
start explorer.exe

Then save the document (use a name such as "Anno 1602 Fix") as a .bat file. To do that, just change the extension from .txt to .bat. The file you've just created has an icon of two cogs. Make a shortcut to your desktop (for your convenience) and then run it. Note that by running it, all open folders will close - this is normal as this batch file kills the explorer.exe. ;-)

When you quit the game and return to desktop, the Windows Explorer will run again automatically like nothing happened!

Hope it works! Try the above and tell me if you've managed to run the game properly.
This indeed solved the problem, thanks alot for taking your time to help me out!

Great! Have fun! :)
is there a way without killing the explorer?
it would be nice to, you know, not lose the rest of windows functionality while playing anno1602...

I'm not sure if there is another way around. Sorry for the late answer but there is no way to get notified unless you make a quote. ;)
This fix didn't solve my problem.
The game keeps alt-tabbing, returning to desktop.
What could the problem be?
