I read the same review when recommending the game to a friend.
Fired up the Gog version of the game, and it worked without a hitch for me.

I have tweaked advanced settings: works great. I don't remember whether it worked on default install. By advanced I mean registry and programs and such, but nothing especially for compabability. Windows 11. Also I have a laptop with integrated GPU.
