I've tried it myself and have the game running at 2880x1800 and everything seems to work splendidly.

Works for me... Thanks :)
Thanks for the link. Working great here at 1680x1050 so far.
So this hack gets around the menu rendering issue? I remember there being problems with widescreen hacks for this game due to the menu height being linked to camera FOV.

Yep, seems to work just fine. The menu stays at the original 4:3 aspect ratio and scaled up to fit the screen with black bars on the sides. It even seems to get rid of the odd menu corruption I'd get setting the game to 1600x1200 originally. Here's a screenshot....

(this is paused in-game, not the initial menu you boot the game to)

The fix seems doesn't work with retail version patched with 1.02b46. The error message says "The program can't start because PATCH.dll is missing..."

Ahh, that sucks. I only had the GOG version to test it. They must have changed something in bringing it on to GOG.

I believe that .dll contains workaround for the bug with too long OpenGL extension list reported by the video driver (this bug is also in other Quake 1-2-3 -based games). Without additional tweaking retail Anachronox crashes on start because of that bug, but i know how to deal with it, at least with nVidia hardware)

Yep, this works for me at 1680x1050. The one thing I'll add for those reading this, is that I had to run the game first, set the in-game video option to "hi-res", and then place those two files from WSG into my Anachronox folder for the fix to work. If I just dumped the two hack files from WSG into my Anachronox folder and boot it, it defaults to the "low res" setting of 800x600, ignoring the hacked files for some reason.

You'll know the resolution you set (say, 1680x1080) is working if the in-game menu is in 4:3 and not stretched- sure fire way to know. Either of the default resolution settings in-game will stretch the game menu on 16:10 or 16:9 monitors. Hope that helps someone!

Isn't there any solution for this PATCH.DLL problem?
Love this thx alot
Very helpful!
I would just like to add that I had to MANUALLY run the widescreen patcher provided (under Custom Resolutions > uniws.exe) before the menu would work properly. This took multiple attempts as the program would find multiple instances of anox.exe (one of them was in my backup drive, because I'm lazy and backup stuff without thinking :P), and several times it simply didn't stick for unknown reasons.

EDIT: I had to do this because copying the provided anox.exe and ref_gl.dll files into the install folder wouldn't work, and just ended up making the menu enormous, although regular gameplay seems unaffected. My saves seem to have corrupted, but I think that has to do with updating the game from 1.02r44 to 1.02r46 more than the widescreen shenanigans.

At least it works now, though.

PS: wsgf.org seems to be an unstable site; it crashed several times on me while visiting, and took multiple attempts to get it to work. This workaround is also now on modDB.com under Anachronox's entry, so I'd suggest going there instead.

I tried this patcher but it didn't work. It said that the game was successfully patched, but the resolution didn't change.
If you dont use the rar password it wont give you the dll with exe file when extraxted there should be a new exe and a dll file. put both in the game directory and it works. for me at least.
You also in the video options after the patch put high rez option on.
