So I just got to the end of the game, and suddenly there is an IMPOSSIBLE BOSS FIGHT.

25 pages of Google results later, I still have no idea how to beat him- I've only found vague hints.

Someone please help I love this game and want so badly to beat it. ;_;

no?
****SPOILER ALERT*****

The trick is moving your characters. The orb-things will continue to respawn unless you move your characters forward into their spaces after you kill them. Once you move a character forward they're out of the fight, so keep that in mind.

Oh jeez I never would've thought of that. Thanks!
I don't even get that far. When Detta moves back for the second time (during the second part of the boss battle) he starts spamming attacks that I have no chance against.
Does anyone of you have any hints for that? From how I see it, I can only go back and start grinding...
What's your character levels and/or weapons like?

The weird thing about this game is that the difficulty ramps up as if the game expects some grinding, while actually discouraging grinding itself by creating no easy way of doing so.

Returning to places like routubes or the caves only gives you auto-leveled enemies with tiny amounts of xp rewards. I got my party maxed out in gear atm, and I find that the battles are becoming harder and harder, wish I could grind somewhere to get my "weak" party members up to speed. :)

Thank you for your response. At the second stage Boots is at level 42 (4200 health) while Stiletto is 38 (3800 health). They have the Stargent HandCannon / Bladerangs as weapons.
The problem is that Detta only uses one attack at the third box which deals 2000 damage to Stiletto and 1500 to Boots. You can imagine that I don't get far with recharching health.
The difficulty in this fight truly puzzles me, as I had no trouble at all so far.
Tried the boss again with some other equipment. Strangely, this made Detta change his attack pattern. That way he dealed 2000 damage to boots and 1500 to Stiletto and that was possible to handle. Made it to the finish thanks to that.

Big thanks to Cruise.Elroy for getting me back to the game to try a bit more!
I wonder if Detta's attack is aimed at a specific part of the battlefield? Would moving your characters around help you avoid damage? I don't remember the fight with Detta that well, sorry.
Also, it can help to use proper shielding like Boots screen-ability, and using the right shield-belts.

Other than that, yeah some battles just suck the big one. I'm pre-limbus at the moment and desperately trying to find some place to do some leveling :P
I haven't heard anyone talking about using Mystech. Late in the game it can really help.

This might be too late if you're that late in the game but if you play it again it is definitely worth your time to try to find all 8 Cobalt Crawlers. There are some areas you can't get back to to search once you leave.
When all 8 are inserted into one Mystech it yields the most devastating attack in the game, called Hectacomb. It's spectacular to watch too. I'd tell you more about it but I don't want to spoil it. That attack makes the Detta battle and the final boss fairly easy.
dang, think im gonna give up on this final fight...way too hard. It keeps skipping my guys turns so when i do destroy an orb, it doesnt let my guy move. Really cheap. I'll watch it go in a circle and then when its my turn it just goes round again. Of course, then he just fills the orb again. Been at for over 2 hours.Even tried debug mode to give my guy more HP...doesnt matter, it just keeps skipping my turn. Oh well, at least i made it that far.

The final boss can inflict a status effect that causes your characters to miss their turns. I forget what it's called... it might be the freeze effect? Anyway, if that happens to your characters, you will want to wait until everyone recovers before destroying any orbs. Timing is really important in this fight. You can go around and around and the orbs will keep respawning, or, if you time things right, you can destroy a bunch of orbs at once and then move two or three characters in immediately afterwards. You shouldn't necessarily have a character act as soon as they're ready. Instead, keep your characters ready to act so you can have one of them kill the orbs and the other two move in immediately.
Near the end of the game, status effects get stupid; they basically cripple your entire party if you're unlucky.

The only way I managed to finish the last battle(s) (including doorlord) was by equiping circlet of safety (?) on all members. But those things are hard to find, a lot of the boss-like enemies give you status effects you cannot (easily) equip against. Even the best defensive equipment doesn't guard against Psy (or whatever it was called), even though this should be a high-reward/high-risk status effect since it is so powerful.

I really wish this game had proper balancing. It must suck finishing this game without getting maxed out beforehand.
Wasn't this one of those things that few people realize about the battle system because it wasn't communicated properly in-game?

As Wikipedia puts it:
"Casting status effect-MysTech on party members will cure them if afflicted by enemy status spells."

So when everybody is getting hit with status effects, cure with the same MysTech?
