squid830: I actually remember bug 1 from the disk version (even with the latest patch, 1.02 build 46) - you can push other keys and they will work, but he'll still keep moving forward (and will do so if not pressing anything).

What I did to fix it was press escape to go to the menu, then Alt+TAB out of the game, then back in again. I'm pretty sure this fixed it at the time.

If it doesn't work, then reload a save - but make sure to exit the game completely first! Typically any bugs you have will remain if reloading a saved game if you don't completely kill the game prior to that. I seem to also remember (although this is getting vague now) that Anox in some situations may still have its exe around after quitting - so you might want to check the Task Manager before relaunching just in case this happens (I could be confusing this issue with another buggy game though).

Arnstein: This didn't work for me. After I load the save he still keeps running. Alt-tabbing doesn't work either. Bah, I really want to play this game :(
Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately that's me out of ideas. I would have thought that either alt-tabbing would work, or if that fails completely quit the game and then relaunch and reload. I do remember sometimes having to repeat the Alt-Tab trick a number of times, and I remember it being pretty frustrating at the time (probably how I figured out the Alt-Tab thing - desperation!).

BTW what OS are you using, and what mouse (and drivers) do you have? There's a possibility that mouse drivers or settings thereof could be an issue. I don't know exactly what though, but it could be worth messing around with them. I'd hate for someone to miss out on this game...

I have a Razer Mamba mouse and run Windows 7. I'd hate to miss out on this game as well, I love RPG games, and from what I've heard, this seems like a SNES jrpg on the Quake engine :P It could be also the fact that I'm left-handed, and play with p as forward instead of w and center my buttons around that. I can try playing it right-handed and see if that makes any difference. Not that the keyboard layout should matter anyways, but you never know.

Well it shouldn't, but you're right in that you never know. I don't have Windows 7 (but will probably soon so I'm not forced onto that abomination called Windows 8!) - but since most Win 7 users seem to get it working it's more likely a mouse/keyboard driver issue.

Does it ALWAYS do this, or does it take a while for the game to get this bug? I ask because when I had this issue it only happened every now and then - but I was also able to solve it using the Alt-TAB trick. Hopefully you'll figure out the "magic combination" of things to do...

I've started the story 5-6 times(the intro is so long that I haven't bothered to try more) and it's been like that every time except once. When it worked I played for about an hour and saved, but when I loaded the save, he was running again. So it's basically all the time. I really want to play this game :(
The damn final battle just glitched out for me!
IIt may have been because I was trying to move Damocleus onto the orb spot in front of Rho - The spot and Damocleus occupied the same space for a while then both were invisible then when I tried to move (the still invisible) Damocleus again it took infinite time to move him! (I assume, I gave up after 3 mins)

Damn - from what I remember it's a bit of a pain loading that again, since I think they decided to ensure that there's a big movie just before the final battle... Which you can fast-forward with backspace, but still...

The thing that bugs me still, and that always bugs out the game is whenever I try to use Rho's Scanalyse skill - I've not once managed to get it to work as it always just waits indefinitely once I activate it. It's not a big deal since you have those thingies that tell you all the enemie's health/etc anyway, but it sucks not being able to use everyone's abilities.
Anyone else experence a bug in the last fight where your character enters onto a spot where a ball was and then the Dark Servant thing (or Chatagra relation) casts a ball on top of your character. THEN your character becomes invisible and can't move and the game generally won't move forward and has to be manually shutdown in Task Manager.

Haha! I tried this in the last fight because I had never used it and I expeirenced the same thing. After pressing every key on the keyboard and moving to windows and back a couple times, it did finally decide to continue, but it sure as hell spent a LONG time doing nothing.

Strangely enough like you I recently managed to get Rho's skill to work, albeit I tried it on a much earlier battle. I opened the game with the console active, and after attempting some commands from memory (which didn't work since my memory is shocking) it finally worked. Probably a coincidence - although I did try it without the console just after that and it just hung so I quit. Haven't bothered since, as it's not that useful anyway.
Hey, I've run into what appears to be a novel bug for Anachronox. During the Hephaestus investigation, Sister Angela was missing. She was not in her normal location, nor anywhere else in the monastery. After extensive trial and error, I found that the only solution is to reload a save from prior to entering the monastery (thankfully Anachronox boasts perhaps the best autosave feature I've ever encountered, and I only lost the progress from after entering the building). For those who should come later, I suggest making sure all the required NPCs for the monastery quest are present before entering the Mysfac, so you don't lose about an hour's gameplay.
I just ran into what seems like a game-breaking bug. In Whitendon after talking to the mayor and being told to take photos of the crime scene, I went and took a photo of the hole in the fence first, then went to the mayor. He gave me dialog explaining that he thought it was a feral child and then told me to go take photos of anything unusual. Then I went and found the crime scene trail and took a picture of that. After doing that he gave his proper response to that but then told me to go around the perimeter of the fence to look for anything. After a while of not finding anything I checked an faq and found that the hole in the fence was what I was looking for now. I can't get anything else to trigger with the mayor and I can't get the scene in the inn to trigger either.

So just watch out, when doing the investigation in Whitendon, make sure you're taking the pictures in the correct order.

EDIT: Discovered I had to do something that the guide didn't mention: Talk to Laurie and answer her questions. After doing this the scene at the inn still won't trigger, so I guess this still stands.

Not a bug with the core game itself, but when using the 1920x1080 resolution files (and possibly other widescreen resolutions), the fighter mini-game in the Virulent Hive was nigh on impossible. Despite the shots hitting the crosshair, they were actually hitting a bit above it. A quick switch to the regular in-game high quality resolution and all was well.

I was having the same problem, but I figured it out. The game itself is unclear about it, but the faq I was reading did mention that you have to take a picture of some scratchmarks on a roof opposite of Nikki. The game just talks about the perimeter fence for some reason.
Oh wow, thanks, that worked. i figured the perimeter fence was referring to the hole near the inn and no faq I saw mentioned anything about the scratches on the roof. That's a huge relief!

Tormentfan: Deleted photos bug.. sometimes when pressing f11 it will cause all photos in your camera to delete, this includes in saved games. It seems like the photos still exist within the saved game data.. they just aren't being imported into the game itself.

Harzzach: This is reproducable when you load an auto-savegame. Manual save seems to be ok. Loading an autosave also triggers the "re-appearing items and enemy models" bug, where the whole world is being reset. Items can be picked up a second time, but enemies cannot be attacked.

Are these new bugs, caused by the GOG version? I cannot remember experiencing these problems in the disc version.
I'd also note that the autosave can teleport you into areas that you're not suppose to be in (notable as I got teleported beyond the DoorLord before picking up Grumpos); actually, given how "photos" work, I don't believe autosave is native to the code (photos require entries in an external folder to the save, losing pictures when loading an autosave is likely due to said autosave not being associated with a unique folder.)

Yeah, added by unofficial patch 2 (according to patch notes) [http://www.fileplanet.com/129921/120000/fileinfo/Anachronox-Unofficial-Patch-Update]
I can confirm two bugs that have already been mentioned here:

- Boots falls through the floor and into oblivion during the first tutorial fight at Whackmaster Jack's.
- Loading an autosave sometime in the beginning spawns you behind the Doorlord.

Some more:

- Hacking a computer port with Pal 18 will cause the cursor to glitch out and remain in the shape of a blue square from the minigame. Happened twice at Whackmaster Jack's, but nowhere else.
- Minor animation glitches when picking up items.
