Yes, it does the same thing.

What about adjusting the GPU gamma instead?
Replying to my own post -- the first battle was not a bug, just ridiculously hard for a first. I quess one is supposed to use the bindbag in that, although I heard later it is possible to beat him without.
There's a museum on Sender Station I think it is, where you should get descriptions of the items on display. Only for a lot of them, the text box is empty. I don't recall if they were empty in the original version.
Apparently the Lucko quest isn't as fixed as thought - on some computers it still has issues.

To fix it:

1) Fail it right off, go to the Timeminder and save (not really necessary, but convenient), then start it again.
2) Every time Lucko transitions to a new area, hold down Backslash (\) as you follow him through the transition.
The Lucko quest (and other script glitches that happen on area transitions) are related to the fps limit I mentioned in the other thread. The higher you go, the less likely you are to stutter, but the more likely you are to start experiencing script breakage. Alas it appears that the point at which stuttering vanishes for everyone is higher than the point at which scripts start breaking for some people. :(

Backslash is a good solution for anyone with script trouble, or adjusting the fps down should help too, if you can do so without starting to stutter.

staticprimer: I am unable to adjust the game's gamma. It will briefly flash to what ever brightness I set upon setting it and upon loading a level, but then go back to the default setting, which is slightly too dark for my taste. Anyone encounter this or have any ideas?
Quake 2 engine for some reason is dark at the best of times. The game is extremely dark on my machine. I have found though that it is my monitors settings. I have an ASUS 1080p (1920x1080 max res). When I have it set to standard setting (Always set contrast and brightness quite low or I get a headache from white backgrounds) even if I up the ingame gamma the screen will lighten for a second then revert back to dark regardless of how high you set gamma.

You need to adjust the brightness via your onscreen display on the monitor. In my case I just change from standard setting to game setting and everything is fine. Its a minor gripe but it sorts things out immediately.

The same thing happens when I am playing Skyrim and a few other games, Anachronox is the worst for being to dark though. Try what I have said and you will see it works wonders :)
The Mephad'in Doorlord fight in the Mystech tunnels near the end of the game is bugged.

As soon as it throws up it's pink sheid thing the game crashes, and this prevents one from getting the best shield cell in the game, which is the only shieldcell that has shield AND can fire ultimate/Harmony Mystech.

This ALSO means you can't get Stilletto's best weapon which is past him.

I'd really like to see a fix for this bug.

Try this?

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/196605-anachronox/55653065

That is, if you can get the web archive to load. I cannot.

Yep, that's the issue, but the archive doesn't load for me either.

Thanks though. :)

Yeah. Looks like the fix may be lost to the ether, unless someone has a local backup of it somewhere =S

At least I know now that a fix is possible, somehow, so I'll just hope Gog get on it at some point.

That's a good point. Just need to make GOG aware of it now I guess.

The thread is being read, I know that much. ;)
Strange, I've absolutely no problem downloading the Doorlord fix from http://web.archive.org/web/20051108033834/http://www.sinneswandel.de/anachronox/DLF.exe I would gladly sent the file to GoG if I'm asked to (maybe they have it already and are going to publish it).

BTW The best way to patch CD version of Anachronox was to download the package from http://3dsl.game-host.org/adventure/game/2585 Now it's down (megaupload) but I've local copy if someone is interested.
