Are there some mods or something for this game? It uses Q2 engine which is open source, has cult fanbase, I would be very surprised if there were no mods to improve graphics for example?
your surprise starts in 3... 2... 1...
I remember there being some, but I have no idea what changes have been done to this GoG version so I'm not willing to go out to hunt them just yet.
You could check out:

http://anachrodox.disinterest.org/

It's a copy of Creaper's Anachrodox project which has gone offline. It includes modding information, information on missing maps, tools, mods, etc. Note that there are only 3 mods, and they're simplistic.

I should add there are some hi-res models, textures or something which are included with the game, but not used. It should be possible for someone to make a simple patch to overwrite the default ones, if they can locate them.

Thanks for that link! Some of those Maps they left out sound really awesome. To bad they aren't in the finall game :(
I have heard there is a TAXI system implemented on Anachronox so you can travel faster between locations. Anyone knows about that mod? It was made by one of the game creators.

Do you think it's included in patch build 45 with is actually unofficial 1.03 version as written here?

I see the GOG version is 1.02. do I assume correctly that GOG did not change anything in the exe, right?

SzFeri82: Snip
The taxi system wasn't a mod. It was included in one of the patches put out by an ex-ION Storm employee. Thus, it's already in the GOG version. If you see a stationary vehicle that looks like a Taxi while on Anachronox, click on it. It'll give you the option of going to somewhere and display the cost for doing so.

As for your second question, GOG must have changed something, although I'm not sure what, as the original CD version doesn't work with current Nvidia driver's but GOG's version does. As to whether they changed the actual exe though, I couldn't say.

They added some opengl info that was necessary for the engine to run, I believe that is a change to the .exe.

From GOG-Staff:

The OpenGL extensions which have been making the game unrunnable on new computers have been fixed, so you shouldn't have problems. If you do, let us know.

Thanks for all the info so far. Although, could someone actually post a screenshot about a taxi? Because sure as hell I haven't found one so far. (I'm at the part when Grumpos joins Boots.)

EDIT - OK found it, later in the game the taxi appeared.

Great game. Too bad remaster will never happen :( (remaster by CD projekt RED would pwn ) :)
If you feel like helping mod community we've got a little hub over there:
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=924639902

It is all fresh, adapted to work with new software and such, although a lot of things are yet to be discovered. It is on Steam because the guide-making system is really easy to use and Steam is one of the places where the game is distributed. If you have any ideas where we can shift it without losing publicity please let me know.

If you don't have a Steam account but still want to contribute somehow please lalthoughet me know: vineviart@gmail.com

There's ReShade

Select OpenGL as graphics renderer when installing for Anachronox.

I'm not experienced with ReShade, so I don't have an "Anachronox shader" to share. Not a useful one anyway. But there's plenty to experiment with (if you choose to download the shaders when installing).

There's also this wide screen fix. It requires overwriting anox.exe and a dll with your choosen resolution version (might want to save backup of the originals, but I have so far not seen any adverse effects. And btw it's not that far yet, I've just recently tested it :) And I've only tried 1920x1080).

I did find this SweetFX shader for Anachronox, but I was unable to figure out how to use it. Seems SweetFX itself is deprecated, and / or ReShade should be able to use it, but I don't know how or where to put the file or what to name it.

You can find some fixes and improved graphics on the Anachronox's ModDB website.
