Heard troubling things about black bars covering up the ladies' naughty bits or scenes having been cut entirely, even for this "outrageous" 25 years-later restoration?
Guess only a Ziggurat representative with access to the original unedited material could answer the part about the removed scenes but anyone that has already played it - are there really those dreadful black bars?

Yep, there is definitely censored material. I refunded the game now, so I don't have it anymore, but looking through the FMV folder, I could see a few videos with "PG13" in the name. Some had black bars, while other didn't show anything racy, which makes me believe they either cut parts of the videos entirely, or they censored something in the language (impossible to tell without the original videos to compare).

Also, I think the videos are AI upscaled, lots of details are "too smooth" (sometimes they have this "blob of color" feel to them) and show artefacts in some situations.

That is rather bad. Couldn't they release some separate patch with uncensored stuff if they cannot include it with the whole game?

I suppose the question is whether the uncensored footage still exists for them to use. This was originally intended to be released on a console in the U.S. in the 1990's, so there may never have been plans for an uncensored version.

Hm, maybe I'll try it myself... upscaling the necessary uncut files, merging them with the existing files and adding hardcoded subtitles sounds doable.

Well, thanks for taking a look at it, I am sure some people would have appreciated this. I wish someone from the dev team or publisher would show up and at least explain their point of view on some of the issues players have with the game. Basically all of these features (including being able to skip videos) would be much easier to add by the devs, but this feels like it was dumped a bit uncerimoniously as soon as it was deemed ready.

I mean, the game is an exclusive on GOG currently, so why not keep an eye out on the forums? Even if it was just to say "we have no plans to add any other features", it would at least acknowledge the complaints.

Thanks for the link, by the way. I see the uncensored version is a fair bit more explicit, I didn't think they would have gone for it back then. I wonder if I can find a Jaguar emulator and a working version of this, might be more functional to play it like that than using the current PC release. XD

Funny that, despite the censorship, Steam still rejected this game.

There's a physical Unrated Edition coming out via Limited Run.
No word yet if Ziggurat is going to make a digital release available on GoG, alongside the Rated Edition, too.
