Every time i attempt to install the Aliens vs. Predator classic, the installer just gets stuck (see image) at the initial stage and will not progress at all no matter how long i wait .... i have attempted using the compatibility mode to launch the installer as an admin, and in windows xp mode with no luck.

Alien8edPhoenix: launch the installer as an admin
You sure about that? Normally, it's right clicking on installer and choosing "Run as administrator". Did you do it like this?

indeed i did ... just keeps hanging at the install screen with no movement on the progress bar ... left it for an hour today and nothing ... can't blame my computer for this one .. it's not exactly underpowered ... lol
Hmm, try restarting your PC.

i tried all of that first before i made this thread ... this is the first time a GOG installer has failed me
Try right clicking on the install exe and select properties.

Click Compatibility tab

In there change compatibility to Win XP Service Pack 3, also check

Disable Desktop composition
Disable visual themes
Disable display scaling

Run this prog as administrator

Then click Apply bottom right and try running it again

nope .. still hanging .... might have to wait for an updated version before attempting the install again ... shame really

Weird, I am Win 7 64 Bit and it installed with no messing about at all :(

Just had an idea, you could try the DEP settings

Go to Control Panel > System and click Advanced System Setting at the bottom of the list top left.

When the Window opens click Settings beside performance and then when the next Window opens click the Data Execution Prevention Tab on the right.

In there click the Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.

This will then allow you to add various startup files in the box below.

Now click add and navigate to where the game installer

Select installer then ok, then click Apply bottom right side of the Window.

Now try running the installer again

meh .. that didn't work either .... weirdly .. when i move the installer window it pops up an error message saying 'Out of stack range' .... i have attempted redownloading also and even trying the gog downloader ... still no luck ... <beats head off keyboard>
Hello,

Please run the installer, and when it hangs, copy and send me a log file - you can find it in the Temp folder (usually C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp). The file is called "Setup Log (date) #(number).txt". If you sort the files by date, it will be the newest one.
