Ears14U: I hope GOG doesn't go this route. Everyone and their mother is running some kind of DRM crap. You have Origin, Playfire, Desura, Steam, etc, etc. Seems you nearly can't play hardly any games anymore without some sneaky additional launcher involved. And this fossil game is packaged with a built in one that makes you choose to be offline? Uninstalled after seeing that junk. Shame, shame.
Uhm... You can't play online multiplayer offline? The launcher is what's connecting to GOG's multiplayer. No launcher, no multiplayer. You don't want multiplayer? Start the "Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000" shortcut. The game will run without any launcher.
Anyway... How did you manage to sign up to this beta without seeing that it is a beta for the multiplayer of GOG's optional client?
Ears14U: Yeah, so much for a DRM free website. Now you know they are actually experimenting with this game to see if GOG users are going to tolerate an "additional" install against OUR usual wishes.
Speak for yourself please. There are many long-tim Goglodytes who asked for an optional client.
Ears14U: Play offline. Sure. I feel that
the initial "install" should note that you are also installing an additional launcher. Hmmm. I sure didn't see any disclaimer when I installed, or I wouldn't of had to uninstall it 2 minutes later.
You signed up to a fucking multiplayer beta!!! What did you expect?
r0dn3ym: Actually they do both the same thing
Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000 and Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000 - Galaxy Client have both single and multiplayer options.
just curious why have both icons if they act the same
Huh? Okay, this is weird. I'm sure I saw a blue saying that one of those shortcuts is the game without the launcher and multiplayer. Bug? oO
