I need some help! I just re-downloaded the gold edition last night, and everything is running smooth until I actually get ready to play it. Whether I go to Campaign or Custom, it does the same thing: Loading screen and then either just a black screen with audio or an infinite ocean with nothing in it. Any suggestions?! I'm about to go mad!

Some general troubleshooting:
- on Vista/Win7 make sure you installed and run the game as administrator
- Check if you have the latest DirectX 9 installed

for other things, I'll need some more detailed info about your PC, especially OS, video card and drivers.

Thanks! I still am having some issues although the admin thing helped. I'm running Direct X 11, and it still comes up black screen, then if I hit escape to go into options (I don't actually have to change anything) then choose the restart game option, it comes up with the endless water.

So, I'm thinking DX11 isn't going to cut it, though I have no idea why it would be less functional. So here's my two-part question: Will installing DX9 mess up my DX11? And secondly, I've downloaded the file, but then it asks me where to install it and I have absolutely no idea. Help?

Thank you!! :)

Edited to attach all the info from my dxdiag screens. And one of the DX9 setup screen that I was wondering about. Thanks again!

DirectX 9 is complementary to DX10 / 11, it installs next to it. Nothing will be overwritten. Just note that screen you posted is not from the installation itself, just unpacking the archive. After you unpack the files, you need to run DXSETUP.exe

I see as well that you use integrated Intel graphics (is it a laptop?). This may pose a problem in several games, but first, let's see if the DirectX will solve this particular one. If not, please write to our Support, they may help you faster, as I don't check out forums regularly nowadays. Still, if you write back here I'll do my best to respond.
Hi besina_sartor,

i had the same problem as you and i found a solution that worked for me.
I reinstalled it, but this time to an other location than "C:\Program Files..", e.g. "C:\GOG Games\". After that it worked.

Yup, I've got a laptop. Haven't had a desktop, or room for one, in years. I still have lots of games from GOG that work on it though, no problems until now.

Okay, installed DX9, and still have the same problem. Any other ideas? Thanks so much for the help, by the way! :)

This also worked for me. I was getting a black screen, then if I restarted the mission, just ocean. Now it works fine.
