Yeah I didnt realize that till after it was posted but its in a old thread that probably is not read often, still its good to give it more...focus.

Holy shit, eventually he is going to support X-Com 1 and 2 and fucking Warcraft I.

I'd love to play this game in a proper windows port!
I see links here posted to a pandora version of the game (open source handheld) which sounds nice but I can't find any windows native port.

EDIT: ok I see the static recompilation project + src from the link to get this to run on PC - looks like a lot of hassle. Is it worth it?

Anyone running a proper windows port atm?

I'm a bit confused. Did you find the windows port (not just the source) or not?
If not, here is the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByS3DU4n3Ke0Z0IydlpKdk11aFE/view?pli=1
Getting it to run is not difficult - read the file readme-Windows.txt after you unpack the files from the archive.

It's a static recompilation made for the OpenPandora (Linux) by M-HT.
His other static recompilations like Warcraft and X-Com are also OpenSource and available prepackaged fir the OpenPandora. It's a great device with a genius community and a successor nearly ready.

I asked him sometime last year about a desktop port and so he compiled it along with a port for those weird Microsoft fanboys although he was reluctant when it came to the latter.
If he would read your post, I guess there wouldn't be any Windows version any more, at least not updated. ;)

I somehow missed the very clearly labeled windows and linux links to google drive, so I looked at the source project in the opening post.

Cheers.

Yep, sorry.
Here's the post with the current link to the compiled Linux version (and for Windows, for whoever still uses that):

Made it run on my machine (kubuntu), for mounting the CD I installed acetoneiso, worked well (maybe I already had some tools for bin images, but I was not able to find them), and at first the game refused to run because I did have libsdl1.2 only in 64b version, but after installing the missing ones, it works. The intro is played in window mode even when fullscreen is selected, otherwise few second of going around in the game, and everything looks fine. Thank you a lot (the wine usually works quite good, but if I understand what this does, it's more "native" than wine running windows installation of gog package).
I created an AUR package in case anyone's interested: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/albion-sr-gog
How do I add the "Windows version with enhanced 3D capabilities" to the GOG game? The info dictates there most be both a VIDEO and an XLDLIBS folder, but there is no VIDEO folder in the GOG version of the game, nor within the zip-file containing the enhanced stuff?

It's a bit messy, but I had the same problem and managed to make it work. Inside your GoG install should be a file called "game.gog". This file is a CD image of the original files, you can mount it with virtual drive programs (I use PowerIso). Once mounted, you should see all the needed folders inside your virtual unit. Make a new folder inside your Albion GoG installation directory and rename it to "ALBIONCD" and copy all the contents of your virtual drive into it. Now, edit "setup.ini" with a text editor and change SOURCE_PATH line to SOURCE_PATH=ALBIONCD\ and you are set.

The new Albion release version 1.7.0 has video playing inside the main executable, so the video will play in the same resolution as the game - window or fullscreen.
Hey guys, trying to get this running and I've followed the steps as far as I can tell but running either albion.cmd or SR-Main.exe isn't running the game as hoped.
I've tried it a couple of times with the GoG.com version copying it to the root of C:\ and D:\, extracting the game.gog contents to a new folder called ALBIONCD under the Albion main folder and have tried to run everything as Administrator to be sure.
As an example the structure now goes D:\Albion\ALBIONCD\ALBION\Drivers etc,. and the Setip.ini was amended to:
[SYSTEM]
VESA=Y
FPU=Y
SOURCE_PATH=ALBIONCD\
LANGUAGE=2

I copied from the Gog galaxy folder. as well as grabbing the manual installer and it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Have I made an obvious error anywhere in that?

Running Albion 1.38 and the new 1.7.1 Windows port.

Edit: The thought occurs that this might be because I'm running 64bit Windows ans it's x86. Anyone with 64bit Windows running it without issue?
