Albion had the best visuals back then. But now its all just pixel mosaics.

does anyone knows about an HD mod for this game (for which it is surprisingly hard to google anything about, because albion online exists)?

Well, since it's Dosbox based, you could try running it in a window, upscaling internal rendering, or using one of the many graphical filters that come preloaded into Dosbox.

But I mean, Albion already looked like chunky soup natively.

I would also add that apart from high-res dungeons it has native XBRZ implementation for really stunning visuals in virtually every resolution (even 4K etc. with correct aspect ratio through letterboxing), allows easy use of MIDI replacements for better music, and allows easy remapping of arrows to WSAD. It also fixes numerous original bugs (including many causing crashes) boosts the loading speed making disk access-related stuff instantaneous.

It's also completely free and open-source.

Basically, there's no real reason to use DOSBox-ed version instead of SR-ed one.

Also, there's https://github.com/csinkers/ualbion , but that one is still very WIP (not really playable ATM).

So ,anyone managed to get the "https://github.com/M-HT/SR/releases/tag/albion_v1.7.2 " working with GoG version,mine just flashes a window and exists ?

Albion-Windows-x86-v1.7.2-sdl2.zip works fine with my Win 10 install.
Though it isn't as simple as dragging and dropping the files into the folder, you also have to grab the CD files.
The zip's readme-Windows.txt has more info, but basically...

Unzip the files from Albion-Windows-x86-v1.7.2-sdl2.zip into the Albion folder.

Mount game.gog using your favorite CD Mounting software, if you don't have one you can try:

(Note search for *.gog when mounting, or just temporarily rename game.gog to game.bin)

Copy the files from the mounted CD's ALBION folder (check your d,e,f drive etc.) to a new folder in GOG's Albion install: ALBIONCD (Note: this is from the CD's ALBION folder, not the root folder)

Edit SETUP.INI and change the following: SOURCE_PATH=ALBIONCD\

Run Game with SR-Main.exe

After confirming it runs, you can edit albion.cfg to get fullscreen.

(As I use G-Sync with a 120 Refresh rate, I also had to limit that to 60 fps to avoid image issues)

As far as Orion Conspiracy is concerned, that's a new one for me. The screenshots look interesting, however!

That's a slightly complicated question as it depends on what DOSBox version you're running as well as what graphics adapter you're using.

For an example, If I was to do this running a GOG version of DOSBox (With a DOSBox folder in the game directory, a .conf file in the main game directory and using a DosBOX shortcut that properly points to the .conf file) with my Nvidia based graphics card, I would do the following:

In the .conf file, make sure the following are set: In the Nvidia Control Panel, under Display->Adjust desktop size and position. Set the Scaling option to: Fullscreen

I tested this with my GOG copy of Duke Nukem 2 and it stretched out fine. With your game and setup you may have to experiment with the settings (Your GPU options and the .conf [render] settings), but this should give you a starting point.
