^^ you can add anything to your Steam library

I wouldn't have my hopes high on GOG giving you a Steam key.
Bought it, no Steam key in sight.

Though I am not complaining, just confirming for OP.

I'd like it, if only for the achievements.

I think the question is valid seeing as this is a Steamworks game.

FrEaKz86: No... but who cares.. great game DRM free.. I have it on steam and just re purchased on GOG
And you have AW-PC both on Steam & GOG becaaaaaause?!

FrEaKz86: why would GOG provide a steam key?? thats like microsoft giving you an apple OSX CD key would never happen...

patches come though the gog downloader...
For more or less the same reason (who knows) that GamersGate does I guess! If I recall I bought Darksiders-for PC from GamersGate.com but come to find out, I had to download it from Steam. Most if not all the time, I do believe GamersGate will tell you on the item/game page, to the right in somewhat small writing that the download will come from a 3rd party I think is how they put! I've bought most of my digital downloads from GamersGate because at first I didn't know about Steam and also I think (tho I'm not totally sure, one has to be online to play Steam games, again I could be very-wrong here, (I sooooo need to find that out for sure! Happy gaming all!!!!!!!!

The Steam release has achievements and came out first. The GoG release is more easily archived and shows support for GoG.

If memory serves, the game was 30 bucks (plus a discount if purchased at Gamersgate). So add 15 from GoG, and you have 45 bucks: Less than the price of a new game.

Hell, I would say that over half the games I have on GoG are games I purchased either at retail many years ago or from other DD services. GoG gives me a very easy to back-up version, nice extras, and ease of installation. And, for the most part, the price is well within what I think said game is worth, even factoring in multiple purchases.
If you want a steam key... buy it from steam.

If you want convenient, drm-free, with no hassle... buy it from here. ( :
Alan Wake + American Nightmare on GOG with NO DRM??
AWESOME!!! :D
I was under the impression that this was a Steamworks title and I would get a key to activate on Steam (just like the Amazon.com version).

So I just spent money on a game at GoG, who I want to support, but I can't activate the game in Steam and get Steam achievements/tracking/friends etc?
The no DRM part prominently displayed along with the game was a good indication, that the game won't have Steamworks DRM. That is the reason, I purchased the game. For me, it's the best version available anywhere for this game.

I think lot of folks don't equate Steamworks to DRM, for some reason. It'll be better if GoG folks explicitly say that somewhere, to clarify any confusions.

I can't think of any other Steamworks integrated title that was ever released minus that DRM. It's a great step forward for PC gaming. I hope we see many such games in the future, with Steamworks stripped out.
Steam key? Doesn't GamersGate do that? Anyway this is a DRM-free version. Steam=DRM!

If I recall, there were Non-Steam versions of FEAR 2 and Saints Row 2 on G4WL, but they instead carried other DRM like Securom.
I don't understand I caught it here when @RemedyGame tweeted ihe offer and I thaught that I would get a key to activate on Steam.

I actually already owned the game when it came out and wanted to give the key to a friend of mine because I taught he would like it.

So there is no Steam key?
OP HERE

Okay.
First: Thx for the information that there will be >>no steam key<< with the gog-version.

But most of you totally miss the point.
The main cause for my question is because everyone on this planet is out of know, HOW TO UPDATE this game.
There are currently NO PATCHES to grab from publishers website. Because: currently those patches apply via auto update trough steam ONLY.

I DO KNOW that the gog-version of this game is up to date. But that is yesterdays date....... but there will be more patches!! It is offically confirmed, that the current game version IS NOT FINAL!

How. Do. I. Get. The. Future. Updates/Patches?
I'm pretty sure we'll get these updates ;)

There are no updates on their website available because there has been no reason for that as the only available version since yesterday was the steam version which has auto-update
