Orion66: pds41: So you're saying he was invented by Wake? That there was no Nightingale before the events in the game? If so, does he exist only within the story, or is he now a corporeal being in the real world?
If not, that there was in fact a Nightingale before the events of the game, what brought him to Bright Falls, and why is he so hell bent on getting Wake? What does he know about him and the area?
No, not that he was invented by Wake, but that he was sucked in by Wake. I think that a page of the story was sent to him - or he found one - that suggested that Wake was a threat to him - it could have been the page where Nightingale had Wake locked up and the dark presence took him away.
At this point, Nightingale decided that he needed to do something about this (admittedly, a sane man would stay as far away as possible, but Nightingale is now part of the story, so Wake's writing is determining his actions). He then travels across country to Bright Falls, and believes that killing Wake should stop the story and therefore his death.
At least, that's what I think.
