Well, it CAN happen of course, but usually it won't. It's more likely that a store has to close it's doors for good and you can't play the game anymore.
At least that's a minor problem with GoG, since if we want, we can always download and archive our games, install them anytime we want.
What CAN happen, is that a game gets changed. In the case of Alan Wake they could have changed the game in order to solve the expiring licences by removing the songs from the game. This happened to GTASA and other games on Steam. They are still being sold, but the songs in question are missing. The bad thing about that is that they are also missing for players who bought the game earlier.
