How do I enable a gamepad for Alan Wake?

I recently got a Logitech F310 controlled and for most games I seem to be able to just plug it in and play (i.e. Jade Empire). Alan Wake (GOG) doesn't seem to initially respond to controller inputs. I looked in the Options area and I see detailed controller button layouts (corresponding to Xbox 360 format, which I understand the F310 mimics). I'm new to using a PC gaming controller so there is a good chance I am overlooking something.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Thank you, toggling the underside switch on the controlled to X did the trick. I really appreciate the help, +1.

They should make that work for older controllers, like a emulation for the keyboard and mouse on the software profiler.

I am pissed off that Microsoft has weaseled their way in having almost every game now only support the 360 controller when just about any gamepad with four main buttons would work! Rip off , major rip off
They also ripped off loads of people with out dating Windows XP.
Lot's of government businesses and charities use it.
They can't upgrade, but what else can they do with little money.

Now they stop old hardware being used, to get you to buy more products.

Rip off? Did you really expect them to support an OS forever? XP was released in 2002. It's 2014, 12 years later.
