Hello!
Does this game supports widescreen monitors? Does it stretch the graphics?
Thanks for any info you can give me about this.
Just got the game, wide screen seems pretty well supported, I'm playing on a 1600x900 resolution which is supported within the game. Given that the game is over 10 years old it also looks rather nice.
It does, even odd ones like 720 X 480 that I use.
For your information there is probably a solution for your old games that do not support widescreen resolutions too.
Most videocards I think has the option to not stretch the graphics of non widescreen games. You get black bars at the side so you won't get all of your inches used but it is much nicer than having graphics stretched out.
For my NVIDIA card I just rightclick on the desktop and select NVIDIA control panel where there is place you can control the scaling.
For ATI cards I expect there is something similar.
For those onboard Intel graphic cards I'm less sure, maybe they leave you with a stretched out image.
Every computer I've owned with an integrated graphics card (I.E., netbooks) is incapable of supporting alternate resolutions - not even black boxes, just stretching/squishing. However, this game does run fantastically in windowed mode, if that helps any.
Age of Wonders properly supports widescreen resolutions up to 2560x1600 without stretching. However, the HUD in the sequels does stretch.
Sure it supports 1680-1050, but it does look a little bit small. But its no problem really I just run it in 1280-800 instead and it looks great!

Totally agree, it's way too small at 1680x1050. Even though it supports these resolutions a better experience is found by playing at lower resolutions.
I agree.
I use 720 X 480 on my 14 inch monitor.
If I had a 24 inch I would probably double it.
That's just my preference though.

I found stuff minuscule and hard to see at 1440 x 900 so I just play it big and pixelled, haha. It might look dated but it's still a great game.
