I can't seem to get it running on Wine in Mint 64bit. Has anyone else done it successfully?

What Wine version, but no as I have neither.
Sorry I forgot to include that. 1.7.18
Here's to hoping for an alternative to Linux.
I've got it running on OS X using 1.7.17 with winetricks ddr=gdi and gdiplus. Overriding screen settings and fullscreen at 1024x768. Within AoWSMSetup using WineD3D adapter, cursors set to B&W, and Direct3D disabled. Ran tolerably on OS X 10.6.8, pretty much perfectly on 10.9.3.
works perfectly out-of-the-box on a Debian Sid amd64, with WINE 1.6.2
(no tricks needed, just install and run)

version downloaded from Humble Bundle (I think it might be part of the Age of Wonders Trilogy re-edition)
1.30.0.2616

I did not use the compatibility launchers (AoWSMCompat.exe or Launcher.exe), but directly AoWSM.exe

Game launches in a window, but you can switch to fullscreen immediately with Alt + Enter.

Feedback submitted on WINE AppDB, it should appear there in a couple days:

There's no point in mentioning you can run it on Debian, you have to be a code junkie to run Debian.
I've installed AoW:SM with Playonlinux (a free Cedega-like shell that is available on *buntu/Mint official repos) and it runs perfectly even on my netbook. BTW, Playonlinux is especially great for installing GOG games.

If it works on Debian, it does mean it should work as well on derivatives like Ubuntu or Linux Mint…

It's because I am a code junkie that I felt necessary to add "out-of-the-box": all I've done to play has been to double-click the installer, wait a couple seconds while install goes, double-click AoWSM.exe, enjoy my game!

(well, I'm slightly lying here, I didn't click on anything but ran "wine something.exe"… mice are for weaklings!)

No one would expect there to be any general problem running AOWSM, it was only Tony that had a problem.
Sorry for not mentioning anything, I just recently had my Windows computer fixed. The problem was what I like to call an error between the keyboard and chair, too.

Didn't got the thread that way, now I understand better.

Not sure what mint 64bit means, but I just went to Porting team.com and downloaded the wrapper for aow 1. For some reason it also worked for shadow magic, on OSx 10.7.5

There you go:
http://linuxmint.com/
I fail to see any distinguishing feature that would make you want to install that distribution.
