It use to on older versions but newer W10 version won't allow the game to run. I've tried literally everything you can think of:

- Running as admin, running with compatibility mode (XP Pack 2, 3, Windows 7), running with low colour depth
- With and without UP 1.4, 1.5
- Direct 3D on/off, Direct Sound on/off
- dgVoodoo windowed, fullscreen

No matter what, the game launches into an infinite black screen...

Is there a fix?

Maybe the game's setup program has managed to mysterious deselect any language, thus making the game unable to run? I had that happen once or twice weirdly; could check that English (or whichever language) is selected in setup.

I can't think what else could be causing it, the program still works for me on Windows 10.

I have a problem. i click 'play' and game opens but everything is black. even all maps in editors of Wizards throne and shadow magic are completely black; on whatever map i open. anyone knows how to fix it?
i did uninstalled the game and installed it again, but still no result. it's still dark. and i dont even have this games for too long to break like that....

I have the exact same issue and tried everything... Have you found a solution for your problem?

EDIT: re-installing "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Version" did the trick for me.
