Many of the denizens of these here parts have been playing AoW, AoW:2, and AoW:SM for quite some time. This can be daunting for new players. Thus...

This is a sign up for players new to the joys of multiplayer PBEM (Play by email) AoW:SM. Playing with other humans is a dramatically different experience than playing against the AI.

1) Concealment actually works!

2) All human vs. human battles are auto resolved.

3) Humans are backstabbing ba$tards who don't do what you expect.

I will not play the game but I will set it up if we get three or more players who are interested. I will pick a relatively straight forward map and let you have at it.

Things to keep in mind:

Etiquette. See this thread for rules of play. LINK.

You must be able to play your turn within 48 hours of receiving it. This may mean a turn shows up every day in your inbox or it may mean you have a turn once per week. It depends on the number of players and their schedules. We working adults like this rule because it often means 1 or 2 of the 5 games I'm playing will be ready for action per day.

You must patch your AoW:SM game using the User Patch 1.4 and you must set up DaveSpice's email wrapper. Please post your email (change @ to [at] and . to [dot]).

I don't know why I can't get into SM. It just feels a lot slower and does not have that magical aura.

Same for me. I have only played a few games of PBEM SM and failed miserably early in all of them. Not sure if I want to start one so close to AoW 3 coming out anyway,

It is funny how we each gravitated to different versions. It will be tough for #3 to not disappoint when expectations are so high. We'll have to learn to love it as it's own standalone game, not as a replacement for AoW or AoW:SM.

I think we can let this thread die and get ready for some new sign-ups in 2.5 weeks. i'm marking my work calender as sick on April 1 already. ;-)

Going to an industry conference on April 2nd-5th. There are no sessions of interest on the 3rd, so that will be a day of hiding in my hotel room, ordering room service, and playing games. Don't tell my boss.
