Dark Elves, Day 5

This Archon charioteer isn't happy about serving us, but he has no choice in these dark corridors.

OOC: How did Triumph mess up priests so much between games? I restarted because i was so mad at getting mine killed in various inventive ways - been spoilt playing AoW1. Had a situation this turn why my priests couldn't heal outside of battle, couldn't self-target heal in battle, couldn't avoid the first round of missiles in battle, and seemingly can't hide behind units without block either.

This game started with my first priest dying in the first round of the first battle, because on shadowland enemy high movespeed units start in range to deal 2 attacks on round 1. So annoying! Still need to stop playing like dogshit and cheating to undo it though. Guess you just have to be careful to not take vulnerable units into battles vs indies.

Yeah, I've been keeping my two healers out of every battle and then having them join my underground stack at the conclusion of each turn. Means I lose mid-battle healing, but I also lose losing my healers.

My one exception to this is against swordsman with Block 5. The healers holy bolts don't get blocked at +10 Defense and the ensuing vertigo of the swordsman makes life much easier.
Halflings Day 5

Wow, I am totally being spoiled with heroes. Got my fourth hero in 5 days. My army definitely has enough generals. In fact, my army has enough everything. There are literally so many halfling refugees in my surface area that I can't see myself ever needing to produce any units in a town. And speaking of towns, I was able to add two more to my growing kingdom. Of course they offered to sell their services to me, but I opted for, ahem, well shall we say 'cheaper options'. I need gold income, not more mouths to feed.

In the underground I came across a lost dwarf riding a mole, which should give Rosen Stern a break from his chicken scratching. Things are looking up, I'm not sure if I ever want to leave this prison!

Dwarves, Day 6

Okay, I guess that's enough gold for a little while. We continue exploring dark crevasses just in case, but we should probably look at the well lit paved corridors eventually.

On the surface, life teems everywhere. And most of said life isn't very fond of Dwarves. We spend a day retaking what is ours and earning the cannon fodder a little bit of experience.

Castor Ulrin, day 6

As previously mentioned on this channel everybody and the kitchen sink was gunning for Swolte, a group of berserking dwarves plus two heroes, a dwarf and a lizard, with their retinues.
Swolte is not without resources though. One of the dwarf heroes, in their running, has stopped close to an unexplored crypt! Let's not waste this golden opportunity. Seeing the zombies and vampires come out of the crypt to help against those dwarves brings Swolte quite some satisfaction, especially when his warlords start spinning their blades in the middle of that crowd!! Zombies and dwarves bones mixing up as they fall together, oh, what a day! What a lovely day!!...

This should account for the loss of a healer. Unfortunately this won't speed me up in the dungeons, where I feel badly the lack of my goblin digger. A refugee drill doesn't come even close in terms of speed.

Speaking from prior experience, they don't stretch nearly as far as you might think. >.>

Bookwyrm627: If so, a warning for Arnuz and Jamesede: the dragon whelps are important.
Dragon whelps would be a lot more useful if I had the slightest ability to beat their guardian. A bunch of slow ass, non-shooting Dwarves with no entangle ability looks at a powerful dragon guardian as a veritable Mount Everest.

Yeah, that might be a problem. Crossbows should be pretty good at tearing a dragon from the sky, though you'll need several to cut through their hp.
Halflings Day 6,

Well our lucky streak (a halfling racial feature) continues, as we, somewhat forcibly, recruit our fifth hero in six days. We also found a nice home for myself IN THE PRISON! This map should be called Prison Stay in the Jail. I'm never leaving, just need to bring in some of my fellow halflings and we'll be quite comfortable down here. Its better than any of the quaint little villages in Fromage's duchy on the surface. And it was barely defended. Oh there's a ton of orcs guarding the wall nearby, but they apparently put all their resources into defending that and left only a token force behind. I say, let them stay up there. I salute your commitment to hold your position orcs, even as we took your base of operations, you valiantly held the line. Maybe should have checked the integrity of your prison walls, but hey, you certainly defended that gate!

Ooc - sorry for the delay. I'm backlogged on my turns right now. Homeschooling my three kids now, as well as cooking three meals a day, and its taking up alot of time. I'm freer on the weekends and will try to play more promptly then

How old? If under ten, I'm impressed that you even have time to cook a meal. Mine are teens, so I see them even less now than before the stay-at-home orders. They have three screens going at once and conversations with two to six friends happening simultaneously. Sort of nice, but sort of scary at the same time.
Castor Ulrin, day 7

Swolte goes on a rampage. He better, I hear that the good guys have started with tricky means to assure the services of the berserking neutrals, unlike us who have to kill them all. At least we're decent at killing them all. WITH FIRE!

In the dungeons, the situation is as slow as ever, watching the mechanical drill work is like hearing a lullaby... I go to sleep.
Dwarves, Day 7

I recruited the Groll today. Less dog man and more map maker. I think I'd prefer the opposite.

On the surface, I was invaded by quite a strong force. They knocked down my walls and killed a half dozen Dwarven soldiers. Dammit, I paid gold for those damn soldiers. Indie heads will soon be severed in retribution.

Dark Elves, Day 7

Total disaster, a dark elf town gets raided, turning my kingdom itno a place of Elves only as its population. They promptly refuse to supply the Dark Elf army underground with food, which promptly abandons my cause. Note to self; always make ethnic cleansing a priority. Think of it like the Syrian civil war.
Halflings Day 7

Apologies for restart. I opened the turn but then went to the bathroom. Came back and the screen was frozen, no character animation, no mouse movement. Hit the windows button but it crashed the graphics. Have any of you guys seen this? The main window is fine but the command interface is duplicated and in purple. Had to reload the turn. I killed some indies but they were pretty one sided fights anyways. Next time I'll exit the game if I'll be away too long.

Quit peeing on your computer! There you go, problem solved. :)

No worries. My Windows 10 machine does that when I try to use it for AoW. (I'm playing on a Win 7 machine that Microsoft swears will turn into a death trap for all human beings on Earth sometime soon. I didn't want to upgrade and lose my ability to play AoW.)
